    Warrior VIT vs STR

Leveling a Maraurder at the moment with the intention of being a Warrior. I've looked high and low online for advice on this and keep getting conflicting guides. Some say go like any other tank: all VIT basically. Others say, due to the Warrior's inferior mitigation but ability to heal through damage, that some consideration has to be given to Strength. What's some experienced players thoughts on this? And if strength should be factored in, at what ratio and or point in leveling?

I personally put 21 into VIT and the other 9 into STR. Haven't had any complaints or problems so far with that mix. But I've also got some Keepers Hymns on a retainer just in case.

Reason I did that split is because I read somewhere that past 9 STR the amount you'd have to put into STR to hit the next threshold, assuming awesome gear with materia, etc, would be prohibitive. Probably out-dated info at this point, but it sounded good, so I said f^%# it and did it that way, and haven't really regretted it.

Sounds good to me. I just want to have some sort of plan. Thanks!

Pre 2.1, when Inner Beast healed you based on 300% of your damage dealt, you needed some STR, since more damage = more heals. In 2.1 it was reduced to 100%, and you gain a flat 20% damage reduction for 5 seconds. Since the amount healed back is rather negligible now, I believe they opt for 30 VIT now instead.

**Disclaimer: Just what I picked out from reading posts in the forum. I only leveled a Warrior in 2.1, so I can't comment about 2.0.

I prefer VIT. Sure, STR means more damage and parry, but HP total is what saves your bacon on a lot of fights.

That's a bummer. The reason I was going Warrior over Paladin was because I liked the added dimension of self heals through damage while tanking. I somehow missed that that aspect was heavily gimped with that patch in my searching. Thanks for pointing me to that thread.

I put 24 on VIT and 6 on Strength.

I did all end game content just fine.

I have a level 90 ring to give me +13 Strength for battles where I want to DPS a little more.

The point is: do whatever you want, it doesn't really matter on level 49- instances
And at level 50+ you have accessories that are far more important than the stat allocation points.

30 STR only... been like that since before 2.1. Being 30 STR that is kinda gear dependent though, I am always ilvl 85+. Over 8k hp is what ever, WILL NOT make or break anything. Being 30 str with ilvl 90 full STR gear is super fun as WAR also.

Lol. Decisions, decisions. It's good to know I have some latitude in my build at least.

STR helps while leveling. Higher damage = Higher Hate while you are lacking skills(both personal and in-game). At level 50 when you are starting to gear up, Vit is needed. Once your fully geared, the gear comes with more than enough VIT, to complete any current content, that going full VIT is overkill.
