Tier 4 Materia rate?

When I spiritbonded Amber, I too got alot of Parry LV3, but my 2nd most frequent was Savage Aim LV3 surprisingly. I did not get a single Vit LV4 from Amber, but I got one from Zircon.

Crafting isn't very much time consuming though...I set aside about 10 minutes to craft a full set, and meld them. Just using my server's costs:

Electrum Ore - 30g/piece
Raw Zircon - 20g/piece
Wind Shard - 15g/piece
Fire Shard - 19g/piece

(Off the top of my head, last prices I bought them for)

A full set would cost me 7 Zircon, 24 Electrum Ores, 95 Wind Shards, and 30 Fire Shards. Since I can HQ using only NQ mats, my cost for a full set is 2855g. A single HQ piece on the Marketboards is about 1.2k gil cheapest, meaning a full set from the MB is 6000g. So altogether my cost is less than half of what I would have spent on the marketboards. Consider this is only for one set, over 50 sets you have saved a potential 150k gil.

I made another patricians set and got all tier III and one tier II. I'm either unlucky, or the chances of tier IV are slim. I wonder how the ilv 55 compare??? On my server T3 were listed for 6k, and T4 were 60k - so it's a big difference, and I'd want to know my chances before I invest in ilv55 to convert :/ It feels like you either need to be lucky, or do mas quantities to deal with the RNG.

I have been bonding a bunch of stuff and have gotten about 4 or 5 Tier 4s so far from crafting gear. My one question is does the condition of the piece matter when converting? I don't think it does but I honestly have no idea and was a little bit tempted to repair the stuff and test it out once. You never know sometimes... I would hope it doesn't affect anything as repairing stuff after bonding takes cash you really don't want to spend.

I just repaired before assimilating a bunch of items. Got no 4s lol. That answers that.

I made the armorer's set and OH (6 HQ ilv55 pieces). I melded them each with 3 materia (I think). I QS'd 272 cobalt ingots (which I turned in for 45k from leves + crysals, ore, etc). I got 3 tier IV materia, and 3 tier III materia 50%!!!. It was a very tidy profit, but required some effort.


The new QS was nice... I had 0 fail, and got like 15-20 HQs

I just got finish spirit bonding casters militia set(ilvl55) with the militia earring and that iLVL55 neck(Imperial Necklace?). Out of that 7, got 2 IV the rest III(maybe even One II but definitely 2 IV's). The two IV was for ACC and DET. THey were all at least 3 Melded of mostly CRIT and DET.

It's been a much better time investment than patricians was (I know it's a small samle size).


5 out of 12 tier IV from ilv 55 or 41.66%
0 out of 10 tier IV from ilv 50.
0 out of 4+ tier IV from ilv 48 (hammer).


**Actually, I bought a couple of the armorer's pieces that were listed absurdly low... like 500g.

I SB 6 more and only got 1 tier IV this time, so now I'm:

6 out of 18 tier IV from ilv 55.
0 out of 10 tier IV from ilv 50.
0 out of 5+ tier IV from ilv 48 (hammer).

7 out of 24 tier IV from ilv 55 29.16% {what initially seemed like a 50% rate, now looks like a 30% rate... since the market for tier III has been good, I don't mind }

10 out of 36 tier IV from ilv 55 or 27.777% (usually armorers head, body, hands, legs, feet, Militia OH)

In the other slots I wear:
-- whatever crafted one that isn't too hard to make (ilv43-48) to SB {tier 2 or 3 is welcome for max melds and selling - I sold 8 for 34k each last night }
-- low level (5-10ish) waist, neck, ear, wrist purchased from vendors {tier 1 materia isn't cheap, and I've needed lots to max meld, also it only takes like 100 cobalt ingots to 100%}
-- aetherite rings {I don't convert these but I wear them because the spirit bond bonus is valuable - I get elemental materia too often}


I know I'm mostly talking to myself here, but it's helpful for me to track results, and I hope someone else finds it useful too ;p
