Wow, that sucks for the people who have been collecting them (me included). I've also been collecting aldgoat hides and hyena hides, and other useless items for the day when they'll finally be useful.

I wouldn't consider it a "slap in the face", however. I completely understand the risks involved. It's a calculation everyone has to weigh for themselves. Too bad if the gamble doesn't pay off.

Anyway, like a lot of other things in this game, just chalk it up to bad design. I mean really, why even bother putting certain items in the game database at all if they're not going to have any useful function? It makes it look like the game is unfinished.
