Pretty graphics or not, it's still forced party grinding. No, thanks.

My time for FFXI has come and gone. Amazing game but I don't think I could redo everything I did.

It's not even "forced", you just can't take on the world by yourself like these new MMOs seem to cater to.

What are you talking about? During the time I played (2004-2008) you couldn't wipe your nose without a party.

New MMOs give you choices. You can solo when you want to solo, and party when you want to party. What's wrong with that? Why does having the choice automatically translate into everyone will just solo? That isn't the case.

I love running dungeons in other MMOs with groups, raiding with my guild, then doing some solo rep grinding, or questing, or whatever I feel like. I have choices. I'm not forced to grind with a full party of six to get anywhere.

Is this why people keep spouting off "Party grinding is such an arcahic game design."? That's basically saying partying to progress is obsolete, which means solo is the preferred playstyle.
