im having trouble understanding the nerf down of this after 2.1
i understand that after casting virus, you cant cast it again on the same enemy for 60 seconds bc it gets "antidote"
here is the part i don't get: virus has a recast time of 90 sec, so the antidote would be over even before i can recast it, no? or did they change the recast and i have failed to find this?
or is this a worry when more than one player is trying to put virus on the enemy?

Considering Virus is a cross class skill available to Black Mages and White Mages, it's not uncommon for a party to have as many as 4 players who have access to Virus. The change is to prevent having multiple players chaining Viruses on a boss to keep it debuffed for extended periods of time. In a sense the Virus nerf is more of a general party nerf than an individual Summoner nerf.

Btw... you can still apply virus for a long duration. The "antidote" only applies on the mob at the END of the virus... meaning you can refresh the virus before it expires.

I've tested it, you can't.

BLM Virus > SMN/SCH Virus, won't refresh
SMN Virus > SMN Virus, won't refresh

You get one Virus every 60 seconds, sadly.

Probably not for PvP. It probably was just to help solidify the need to use a WAR + PLD. If you could get the a free 10% mitigation along with the old Virus rotation, nothing in the game would hit hard enough to be a threat.

Its because it was cross class. With whm, sch, smn, and blm having access to it people could chain them on bosses and really reduce the damage they dealt. Now you can't do that.

Did anyone try to dispel the buff with a Monk? (one-ilm punch was it?)
I mean I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't work but I'm still curious considering the antibody is in fact a buff for the enemy.
