Why Does Titan (Hard) Make People Dumb...

So I am curious why Ifrit Hard, no problem, Garuda Hard, no problem, Titan Hard, people cant get out of their own way. This fight as the 2 before them is very methodical, but it seems as though everyone loses their mind and all of a sudden forgets that they need to avoid AoE's or stay within casting distance for medica when Tumult occurs.

sure garuda is not a problem if youre in a group that knows what they're doing and likely premade. Try doing it through df and you'll find tanks that pull her to the wrong side after reckoning, healers that will keep moving next to me even though I keep moving away to avoid hitting them with friction, people who split their dps between chirada and suparna, and ot that let the red add hack the casters to death.

IMO, it's much more chaotic than Ifrit or Garuda, because there's far more to avoid far more often. Garuda EM is more like Titan HM, which is why you'll often see the same problems going on there. Hell, Ultima Weapon is the same way. People tend to suddenly panic when they realize they have an AoE on them. I've been guilty of it, only to suddenly realize a split second later, "Why did I just run the opposite direction of the safe zone?"

Last night was one of the First DF Garuda's that I have had issues with. OT didn't tank the adds, and MT kept spitting the group by running her to far and the DPS get stuck on the other side of the tornado's. Then would blame it on lag, even though that is BS because you should always be pulling her to the same spot on the clockwise rotation.

How is it more chaotic? The pattern repeats itself over and over. Even if you look at P5 if the DPS would just stack on his butt there really isn't much to avoid. As a DPS you have one focus at that point and that is to avoid the AoE's because the healers need to focus on the Tumult's and Mountain Busters. there is simply no excuse for a DPS getting hit by MB or a Weight of the Land if they are doing their jobs correctly. People fail to understand that the 200DMG that they did while getting hit by that AoE, does not make up for the exponential damage that was lost by their death.

I also have a big issue with DPS who say they are avoiding the AoE's but are the only ones getting hit 3/4/5 times a fight. As a healer i'm sorry if I can keep a tank alive and still not get hit by an AoE, what is your excuse?

After working on Titan Extreme it's amazing how easy titan HM is.

It could be lag on their side, which makes it look like they're not moving until after they're about to get hit, or sometimes latency (it still exists you know). I've had moments where I was outside of the AoE and still got hit by it. There are also moments where it's impossible to dodge the WotL, due to people sitting at just the right spots to where there is no safe zone they can get to in time (the cause of many of my deaths in there). I'm not saying it's not completely on them, sometimes it is something out of a single player's control. You can't blame the player for 100% of the incidents.

My favorite "cheap unavoidable Titan death" is during the square pattern of bombs in P5, when he throws the landslide right as the bombs are about to go off. If he throws it right in front of you, you're dead. If you stop to avoid it the bombs blow you up, and if you keep moving you get bopped off the edge.

Also love it when you get three WoTLs that spawn in a triangle with you in the center. There's no direction you can move to get out of that big an area in time.

Those are the only things I ever die to on Titan anymore. And they're all bad luck, so it happens maybe once in every ten runs.

Ifrit really only has one dangerous ability, and you stun it. Phase 2 of Garuda is almost literally clockwork, with a decent amount of time between each element of the phase. Not only does Titan add to his rotation in each phase, he changes the rotation entirely, and post-heart there's a lot going on and very quickly.

The thing about Titan that defeats more players than anything is lack of coordination and communication. The vast majority of times I've done Titan, there was absolutely no discussion about stacking behind him post-heart, Eye for an Eye/Virus rotations, or any other strategy that would make the encounter less difficult. It's almost always "who's the main tank", "I'm the main tank", "ok let's go".

This, combined with a lack of personal responsibility to your fellow party members (i.e. being sufficiently equipped for the fight, eating food, effectively managing cool-downs), results in a greatly increased chance of failure. It's like that in every dungeon and trial in the game, however it is significantly more obvious in Titan.
