Apologies if it was mentioned, but trade craft leve quests can bring you alright gil. For example, the apple juice leve in Limsa Lominsa for a level 40 (45?) culinarian doesn't require too much effort (about level 45 botany to gather the materials). I realize it's a bit long term if you're starting out, but once you get there you have a decent way to grind gil without relying on the marketboard. There are other leves for other trade crafts too of course, just have to find a triple turn in leve that won't require too much grinding to get the materials.
