Fairly New, Some Questions~

So I have been playing for about a week and really like the game. I have some questions though if some nice people would not mind answering.

1) Do free stats carry across classes? What I mean is...my main is a Lancer so I have been putting strength attributes into it with every free stat I got. So if I switch to Conjurer...would that mean I have a strength built conjurer now or are the stats separate?

2) I can use cure and protect on my lancer but if I switch to Dragoon I cannot anymore. My question is: Can Jobs/Advanced Classes only use cross class skills from their required classes (for Example a Dragoon can only use Lancer and Marauder Skills?). It's the only thing I can think of since to me there is no real difference between Lancer and Dragoon other than more skills.

3) Recommended ways to make gil?

Had more to say about each question but these forums have real low character limits lol

1. No, each class gets their own bonus stats, except SCH/SMN, which share them because they have the same base class (Arcanist).

2. Classes have access to more abilities, can use 10 cross class abilities too. Jobs are specialized and therefore have less of a variety.

1) Thank you! I do not have to work on a whole new character now. I have already spent too much time leveling because of the fun I was having and left other things behind I need to catch up like crafting...

There is no secret way to make yourself a lot of gil. All I can say is set home point and your 3 favorite Aetheryte destinations in order to save yourself gil on teleports. Do not count on any of your professions to make you gil because theres thousands of other players thinking the same thing, and hundreds of players on your server with multiple professions maxed that will put you out of business before you begin. Just conserve your gil as much as you can, hopefully you'll have 200k+ when you hit Lv50 and from there you'll generate gil from simply playing the endgame (running dungeons in duty finder/roulette).

3) Requires some market study, selling raw materials, DoH items all also can give you a fair amount of gil. But to try to make 1 million gil in an instant, that probably is not going to be possible through market. There are many ways to make gil, try to find out

Of course this is going to vary by server but at most, raw materials will fetch you a few hundred or thousand gil per. You'll be lucky to find something that sells for more than 5k each nowadays.

I see and do not worry I was not looking for some "get rich quick" scheme. I simply wanted advice. And yes, abusing teleporting to avoid all that running is one of the reasons for being poor. Probably the main, so I decided to run more, teleport less. And does this mean relying on crafting as a means of income is pointless?

Relying on crafting for money is incredibly difficult. Yes you can do melds for tips very easily but as far as endgame crafting goes, you need to level up multiple jobs in order to guarantee HQ on those crafts. This takes an insane amount of time and gil to gear out your DoH professions. The profit margins also continue to shrink because more and more people are available now. Also, anything crafted for housing is crafted by friends of the FC, not by random people on the server, so don't count on making any money there either.

From a solo standpoint there's nothing wrong with playing with Lancer. If you're grouping with people for dungeons you'll want to use DRG though. You get 20 more str (the equivalent of level 50 piece of gear) and job specific abilities that will enhance your damage more than some of the cross class abilities you pick up.

Well I did not expect to return to a couple pages of arguing lol
Anyways I decided to catch my crafting up with my character. I do not find the idea of spamming past all the content to end game just to repeat one or two things again and again and again everyday fun. I do not care to be rich either. I just want a source of income so that I do not have to worry about gil and so that I can buy myself fancy fashionable things at some point but that can wait~
I shall check out the market to see if there is anything I can sell too from time to time. And of course I shall teleport less. I will be 100% honest here...I teleport alot because I somehow manage to get lost even with a map lol It's all the weird location names. They can be hard to remember xD

2. jobs can only cross 5 skill from 2 classes, DRG can use marauder (MRD) and pugilist (PGL) skill

3. never pick gear reward from quest, always pick allagan bronze/silver/gold

2) Oh, I see. I was hoping for protect and cure for soloing since I just like to log in an goof off sometimes. Plus I figured it would help since this is my first character.

3) Ah, I've been choosing almost nothing but armor rewards, I get the feeling If I worked on crafting like I should have then I would have had free armor lolz. No worries though I stopped lvling entirely to get my crafting caught up. Only reason I even made another level is from FATEs and Hunt logs for company seals to work on my ranking there too. I had lots of fun but more fun will have to wait for now.
