sorry but I'll have to break some thoughts before we get too much non-sense with the game's way of doing :
Redmages can't come from gald because of the sword+shield. Red mages fit better a fencer class (SE announced the fencer back in days btw)
same for geomancer, it often comes from fencer, though it would fit perfectly the hippy yay way of conjurers

The dark knight will probably swing a claymore, so unless marauders become suddenly able to swing these as well, it's unlikely to happen.

finally, beastmaster (whips) and blue mage (either staff or sabers) can't fit the same class either, and it's sad because they would go so perfectly together.

The others are good guesses I think

There's somethign about Lancer to me that screams "Samurai." A lot of our 'thrusts' look more like swordslashes/something a samurai would do (look at Full thrust and imagine it with a Samurai Sword.)

Actually, some Samurai used spears as a part of their martial art. Such an art such as 'bojutsu' would be possible for a Samurai, if Square Enix chose that path.

Furthermore, I do not think it right to discredit it due to the difference of handgrip from Samura Sword vs. Samurai Spear. I think Square Enix could easily change the style of the weapon's grip/etc with a little bit of programming (Though no garuntee on that.)
