Can I skip all of these starting quests???

I just started the game and I am finding it hard not to die of boredom the first hour or two of playing. It is nothing but quest after quest of running around a large multilevel town. Meet so-and-so, put oil in lamps, meet so-and-so etc. All I am doing is running around and trying to figure out which floor of the town I need to be on. Toss in zero voice acting and I just click to get through the dialogue so I can try to get past the boredom.

Can I skip all of this? Can I progress my character even if I skip the tedium and go out and actually adventure or should I just move on to something else?

The only quests you need to do are the main story ones (fiery quest symbol) and the ones that are at your class guild every 5 levels.

The town quests are mostly to get you used to where everything is and get MMO-newbies acclimated to controls and etc.

As the poster above me said, you only need to do the quests with the meteor icon (it looks like a flame). By Lv15, the game opens up and lets you do dungeons and explore the world. And yeah, the town quests are really lame, but you can skip them. Focus on the main story and your class quests, and then whatever else you want to do.

I think he is doing the main story quests.

Unfortunately, thru out the entire game, you will do quite a bit of running around, sorry =d. However, you aren't necessarily required to be at location "A" @ level "X" or anything. If you feel like running out into the world and randomly smacking things and doing fates, thats perfectly fine. However, just keep in mind, you will need to do your main story quests to unlock many features in the game.

So don't be like me, hit 50 and realize your story line is at lvl 30. lol. Its a lot of wasted exp and work to catch up.

    Good luck on your adventures.

Not entirely true. Quests have minimum level requirements to accept and turn in.

You can try to get by only doing story quests, but I think you'll fall behind on levels if you do. I skipped some sidequests at a couple intervals and ended up behind in level to do story quests at a point and had to keep playing catch up doing FATE groups.

As mentioned above, things start to really open up around level 15, which is when you start visiting the other city-states and start tackling your first set of dungeons. You'll start seeing some voice-acted cutscenes around this time as well, but they're still a bit few and far between. I don't mind reading, but it seems like the newer generation of gamers really like voice acted everything.

Eh. I'd just do them, learn how the game mechanics work, learn how to get around your town (you'll be going back to many of those spot later on), and get the free exp, money, and equipment.

Like others have said, you always have the option to skip or postpone your questing and just walk out of the town to kill random monsters.

also keep in mind that some quests which are not main story quests unlock different features. examples would be dyeing your equipment, using a cities aethernet to access the housing districts and iirc guildhests.

There is only a few of those though and i think non of them are in the main cities.
