I think they deliberately did that to balance out server loads and have people play less-played content. IIRC each dungeon has its own set of servers, so while it'd be a good idea to have higher level people pick on their own size, it'd not help the phenomena currently in place where high level players simply don't want to bother with low level areas, leaving those servers eating electricity for no good reason

yup there are still peeps yelling for SR for WP and I am loathed to even try DF again as I will just up and leave the group if they want to SR which is unfair on them and me with a lockout lol

This way the Level 38 and 45 players can get the most xp possible in their roulette attempt. No reason that group of players should get Sastasha just because no one is in there.
This is how I assumed and hoped duty roulette would work. If there are multiple dungeons at a given level perhaps then it could/should consider which "content is lacking players."

The added bonus of doing what Estellios suggests is that the lower level player benefits from the experience by learning from more experienced players. What I currently find in Sastasha etc is a speedy spam fest with no communication and lots of bad habits being formed.

Make the lower level dungeons where every mob has to be cleared to advance. I'm tired of going in low level dungeon just to have 1 person who is in a rush to speed run through everything and skip a large portion of content. I want to enjoy the content and get exp for my other characters.

My low level roulette experiences seem to break down to three groups:

    1. A low level dungeon or Ifrit, usually with, at most, one person who needs it. Often nobody needs it. Yet we clear it quickly and painlessly.

    2. A higher level dungeon like AV or Qarn in which one or more queued for it, the rest of us are filling out the group. We clear it quickly and painlessly. Yet they do take longer than the low level dungeons.

    3. A higher level primal (Garuda or Titan) in which someone is always lagging and we repeatedly wipe until the lagged person gets frustrated and quits, usually followed by someone else, forcing us to replace the members, get the win on next try, but at that point there's mere minutes left on the clock, and I spent twice as long on one fight as I could have in a low level dungeon.

    I'll take Sastasha.

Naberrie, I have only had experiences from your first group. I run low level roulette every day (either for the experience or the tomes, depending on which class I feel like playing). I've never gotten anything higher than Halatali/Ifrit (don't remember which of those is higher, I just know they're both around lvl 20). I get Sastasha most frequently, then Halatali. Sometimes Copperbell or Tam-Tara. If I'm lucky, I get Ifrit.

I would really like to see higher level dungeons, if only for the sake of variety. While leveling my WHM, I realized that I hadn't even tried harder content, so I went into story mode Garuda to see what it was like. But I've never gotten Garuda through Duty Roulette.

I have yet to get anything higher than ifrit. But hey, my bard got 215k exp bonus for basically doing nothing so.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This has been the last seven days for me: Titan, Qarn, Cutter x 1; Tam Tara and AV x 2.

I ran DR back-to-back on my PGL to get some exp while out doing hunting logs and FATEs for a total of 13 dungeons. The highest level instance I was in at 25 was Halatali, and that was one time. Almost every other time it was Sastasha or Copperbell Mines with one random Tam-Tara Deepcroft in the mix. The Roulette seems to put the players together first then dump them in the lowest level dungeon with an available instance unless someone queued specific. Since Sastasha is THE lowest level dungeon it might explain why we only see that and then spill over into Copperbell when it's instances are in use followed by Tam-Tara Depcroft after that.

That's exactly what I meant, for them it makes sense to utilize unused assets, for the players however it just seems rather pointless running a level 15 dungeon when no-one needs it and the lowest member is say level 35. For players it'd be better if the roulette chose more appropriate content for the current level of the lowest member of the party. Maximise the bonus exp from a higher level dungeon etc.

Obviously this is a 'roulette' where anything could pop out but it's like going to a casino and knowing that 00 is pretty much guaranteed to drop every spin of the roulette wheel, which is what is happening with Sastasha, so it's not really proper roulette when 9 times out of 10 the result is the same.
