I'm baffled that some people think Bard will no longer classify as a DPS class if they exchange their personal damage for party wide DPS boost songs.

Bard is an advanced job, will keep its DPS just like it is. Did they even say they are going to give us Ranger?
Depends on SE in the end. it could be light years or it could be only a few major updates away after all...

GE- With ARR we’ll see Arcanist added with Summoner shortly after the game launches. Are there any other classes or jobs you’d like to see added? And will these be added in patches or expansions?
Yoshida- What I would like to see right?
First of all, we are planning a new race for an expansion pack. For the classes and jobs, we will introduce them through patches because all of the Legacy players have level 50 jobs anyway. When we introduce new classes and jobs we will probably increase the level cap at the same time.
About what I want to introduce- it’s more like what I think I have to introduce. Something related to guns because the (musketeer) guild in the game. Something related to that I think I have to introduce.
Also I do feel that scouting classes are lacking so I want to bring in Thief, Ninja and those that have to do with stealth. Also more casters like Blue Mage and Red Mage are something I would like to add.
Whatever the players want, I want too.We will get something for Archer's 2nd Job but currently it is most likely Ranger.
Bard is actually a Hybrid Job, despite people confusion for it being DD or Support, so it is actually both DD and Support.
Bard focus on performing DD but the skills Bard gets from its Job is for Supporting the group when needed. Think of Bard like that Supply Unit that you need to fight with your team while deploying supply boxes to help keep your group from running out of ammo.

They should turn Bards into healers =P
Lifelong Ranger in ffxi, happy with how bard in 2.0 has turned out, but I'd love a pure ranged dps class via bow/gun. I'm thinking we'll see musketeer instead of ranger, and I'm ok with that as long as it's a pure DPS class and not like Corsair was in 11.
Musketeer is a "class" a job from Musketeer is could potentially be Ranger...Now i'll start looking it up since i can't remember too well...but i could have sworn with the potential introduction of puppet master as an alternate job from Musketeer...but i'll look up anything i can now and edit it in when i find it.
I am a winner, even though I sometimes fail.
I dont want ranger using guns (Musketeer) better ranger branch from Archer (BOW)Musketeer is a "class" a job from Musketeer is could potentially be Ranger...Now i'll start looking it up since i can't remember too well...but i could have sworn with the potential introduction of puppet master as an alternate job from Musketeer...but i'll look up anything i can now and edit it in when i find it.
Muskeeter can go DPS ( dual guns! pew pew) and Buffs (corsair/gambler)
so essentially because your dps numbers are slightly less now you want the whole class changed because your ego is hurt?
LOL
Ein rotäugiger Kunde betritt dein Geschäft.
Halb Engel, halb Todesgott.
With the required amount of dps both dd slots need to do. Lowering damage on bard would cause it to be gimped in most 4 man duties. Unless you expect the other DD to carry you?
