Funny thing that sawned on me

*title was supposed to say Dawned on me* (can't edit title it seems)

So we were doing Svara, and one guy in our group had a girl character, but we knew it was a guy.

Then suddenly I had a realisation.

If a guy is playing a girl character in real life, they area a drag queen right?

So if a guy is playing a girl char on the internet, its an EDrag queen.

When I brought it up, he did get a lil upset.
I understand the defensiveness, but, I think it is technically valid to call guys playing girl characters, for whatever reason, Drag Queens.

Yeah, it is technically what's being done but it's more of a respect thing to not say as such.

Not really, my character is not meant to be a representation of me.

So every guy who's played a game that involves a girl as a main character is a drag queen? Everyone who played Tomb Raider as kids were drag queens? I see where you're coming from but at the same time games aren't so much a representation of yourself, like Mega_Man said. I think classifying people as a drag queen is almost rude considering a lot of people would never even consider dressing in drag for real and because they have a choice in a virtual world to be male or female, they choose female and are automatically considered a "queen" by some.

unless the male's intent is to enjoy pretending to be a girl, then no, they are not a drag queen by playing a female character in a video game, sorry

sometimes the male's intent is to derive pleasure from just LOOKING at a female character they are controlling in a video game, and nothing more then that, so how does that make them a drag queen?

and also, sometimes, a video game does not offer any other choice but to play a female character, so if the male just wants to enjoy playing the game, they must play a female character, so how does that make them a drag queen?

I am not sure why it is rude exactly?
Is it offensive in some way, are you people offended by drag queens?

A drag queen isn't a expression of yourself, technically. It is just a guy who dresses as a girl for different reasons.
    Mostly entertainment purposes.

I see you have never met a real life drag queen before.

im sure different strokes for different folks, but, generally speaking: A drag queen is a man who dresses, and often acts, like a caricature woman often for the purpose of entertaining. There are many kinds of drag artists and they vary greatly, from professionals who have starred in films to people who just try it once. Drag queens also vary by class and culture and can vary even within the same cities. There are drag artists of all genders and sexualities who do drag for various reasons or purposes.
