XI is indeed too fond of memories for me to go back.
I remember my last play session, where I logged out for the last time, and what I did on my last day.
I have funny fond memories, and I got to make some friends.
But XI is apparently a whole new animal now. From what I've read, they've melded the XIV mentality (casual and hardcore players existing on the same plane, occasionally even working together) into an old system that did not have a ton of space for that mentality. IIRC, XI was a toil fest just to get my BLU up to the level I did. But I felt very accomplished and proud of what levels I got. If I logged on now and could shoot a job from 1-30 in a few hours, I'd feel slighted for no good reason. It's a different game, attempting to cater to the newer, more gimmie-gimmie "efficiency over sense of achievement/accomplishment" player.
I loved XI. But I don't think I'll be resurrecting my Taru anytime soon.
