    SE needs to transition to Client side action model

    The graphics in this game are beautiful, the dungeons are interesting and well designed. The only issue that comes is the server side calculations that make everything lagged, and have it so even if you move out of an attack, or animation, you may still get hit. If you provoke an enemy, it takes a few seconds to actually switch targets to you.

    The list goes on, if that game wants to be serious in the future, beyond just good graphics and actually having top level fun playability, they need to switch to client side model like every other mmo/game in existence. Even if it means rewriting their game code completely, it needs to be done. The recent latency improvements were nice however its like putting a wig on a bald head, you are still bald at the end of the day.

    Would require redoing almost the whole game. Not to mention client side hit detection comes with its own can of worms. Best option is reduce the update time, which they already did for certain dungeons.

    Client side detection usually comes with agreeing to monitoring of your computer (ram, processes, programs running, scanning dlls) when the game is running as well.

    ^. There's already more than enough client side 'action' going on even to the point you can ...do some shady things. The "lag" isn't that bad unless your ISP does insane loops to get to the game's servers/datacenter, otherwise the amount of people playing with no issue (and no, no one is just "used to it") is why the design works - even when they changed some timing the people who always had issues will continue to have issues because it's not the game.

    OP, everyone who cares about this has already left. There were hundreds of pages discussing this matter, but everyone slowly came to realization it won't happen. I've moved on, though I still come to the forums once every few weeks.
    Maybe someday we will see a 3.0 which will actually be a top quality game. As it is now, it's no matter how much content they add or what other fancy stuff they will do, the game is fundamentally flawed.

    What can of worms exactly?

    As for position checks, they are only a part of the effect this has on the game. It extends to far more than dodging AoEs. As OP has already illustrated.

    Most MMOs do NOT do these kind of detections on the client. The visual aspect of it is done on the client, but its always also done on the server and corrected. This game already does more on the client than most, thus why there has been so many speed/teleport/whatever hacks.
