Commendation System: So who get's your vote?

Depends on what I see. When I'm tank, I'm able to see what DPS is using at any time, along with the healer. When I'm DPS (meaning Bard), I can see the entire field and get a grasp on what each person is doing, along with whether or not DoTs are being used. When I'm healer, I'm watching the health bars mostly and buffs while watching the rest of the party do their thing. I will mentally note any errors or anything like that. I give it to the tank if they impressed me with the aggro hold, I give it to the DPS if I specifically see people doing their jobs well, I give it to the healer if I feel they went through a rough time. If everybody is doing their job...it hurts me because it gets really hard to choose. If nobody is doing their job correctly, nobody gets my commendation.

I usually look for the person who went above and beyond the basic stuff that their class can do during a run. The little things that help out without being too obvious but show that the person knows their class, the content, and how the two interact. Given that, if someone's new to content and does a good job, I'll usually give it to them because it's nice to get recognition for not messing up when you're new to the content.

Forgot to add: I'm very keen to give it to someone who fails and apologizes for it, and is very nice about it. I value disposition more then skills, and someone able to admit hir mistakes is imho a very precious player.

One thing I'm noticing, whenever I stupidly fail and die I get commendations in the end. If I do all flawlessly less likely. Do they appreciate my saying sorry or they just had to chance to make a good laugh at my fails? Cause it's hard to understand, I'm starting to think that if I wnat commendations I have to fail more <.<

I give it to Black Mage if he is sleeping mobs when I am tank, healers if they are doing a great job of keeping me alive and depending on how things go it might go to dps for doing a great job of picking up adds.
If I am DPS (Archer) I will give it to another dps or the healer. However, if the tank is super nice and giving other players helpful instruction, marking mobs, controlling argo and just being a kick <snip> tank you will get my vote for sure.

I am really torn when I get a bunch of noobs in a dungeon and they all do a great job. I usually say I want to give one to everyone but unfortunately you can't. It would be nice if you could do a commendation for everyone once a week for those special times.

I would have given it to the DPS who had macro'd "FORM BLAZING SWORD" on his Limit Break when I did WP a few days ago, but he left too quickly :P

I don't really have a criteria for giving these yet, so I've only given out two so far. And, one was a really nice tnk who said he had also suffered because of heavy lag on a first release PS3. He was so nice!

The person who makes the dungeon fun.. talking, wearing santa outfits, doing ludicrous pulls, something that breaks the monotiny a bit.

If no one talks, everything goes smooth, everyone does their job, then just the last person to leave.

When I tank, I get 1-3
When I heal I get 0-2
When I dps I get 0-1

When I explain things to new people, and show patience, I almost always get recommendation.

As for giving them...

If someone is wearing a silly costume, they are automatically not getting one.

IF they ask for it, they aren't getting one.

If they do their job effectively, they get one.

For my commendations, I like to give them to DPS because I know as a DPS, I have a hard time getting them (I saved us from a wipe once and I didn't get any ;O; ). But if I had criteria it would be: if you say hello at the start (I like conversations even if it's just a hello and good job at the end), if you do your job really well (that makes me go "I wish you were on my server"), if you make me laugh. If everyone's even or if none of the criteria are met, I throw one to a DPS unless they annoyed the crap out of me.

Its seem to me that since this system has been implemented everyone is nice inside instances. With no exception I haven't come across an asshole yet. Everyone talks every greets each other. Everyone offers advice and even motivate others when we fail. I tend to give the vote to the person that made me lol. you run into people who are obviously trolling for votes, but they tend to be funny and helpful so they get it from me almost all the time. Tanks that allow my whm to dps a lot. Dps that destroy things faster than i thought possible. Healer that dont complain when i go a lil overboard. In some instances people say there goodbyes and take off leaving only one person to vote for anyway. Labyrinth of the Ancients is the only place where Ive seen some jerks. Usually one party teasing the another for slower boss kill or something dumb like that but overall cool since I been there only 3 times.
