I don't really have a list on who gets it, more so as who doesn't get it.

#1: Impatient people (rushes into a fight before the tank while someone's brb'd, keeps saying "hurry up!")
#2: Someone who's rude and/or starts a fight with the party
#3: Tells people how to play, rather than helping them understand how to play

If no one has done the above then it's based on helpfulness (giving information on battles)- if no one did, then whoever dodged the AoE's best (since I'm a healer)

To be honest, I give them to the other DPS regardless of how good or bad they are. 9/10 times you're not gunna get them on DPS regardless of what you do.

Plays class well, friendly (at minimum says hello upon entry, good job on exit), and offers advice on dungeon mechanics when appropriate or if asked.

Personality comes first. If someone makes a dungeon more pleasant than usual, they get it.

Failing that, usually whichever DPS helped the group more. Because I'm usually either healing or tanking, and I have higher standards for those two roles.

Really depends on the circumstances. I had a lower geared Warrior tank in WP the other day while I was on my WHM. they said they wanted as fast as run as possible so I was dropping so many holy's I knew I was gonna get beat to hell. Guy never lost agro, not once even with chain Holy's so..he got my commondation. I'll give it to dps a lot because it's not fair they have a harder time standing out.

Just because a tank held agro under normal circumstances isn't a reason enough. Someone has to stand out and show they play their class really well. Clutch moment they held together. While i'm on my Pld maybe we got some bad timing and pulled the big ton's and the healer managed to keep us all up. that kinda stuff.

"On a refreshing morning, start out with a refreshing greeting." And "Number 58 of the 1,000 provisions I would like you to observe, never talk to me while I'm humming to myself. This is an important provision do you understand?". If you can abide by these, you can receive my commendation.

I've found that the all too common trend is to give the commendation to the tank or healer. I play a whm, a blm, a sch, and an archer and my whm gets far more commendations than my blm or bard. For this reason, I tend to ignore the healers and tanks simply because I feel like too many people are commending them simply for doing their job and look at which dps was able to stand out to me because they tend to get overlooked. If nobody stands out, I'll base my decision on other factors like who's name I like the most, lol.

I've noticed this too, most of my commendations came on my WHM, even though I was only doing my job and nothing exceptional at the time. When I'm on my Monk it rarely happens except the one time when I took time out to explain Haukke HM (had a fully new party) and blew everyone away with MONK POWAA

I kind of have a mental flowchart for it:

    1) Was the person performing excellently? Such as Healer helping out with DPS during downtime, tanks being on the ball with adds, DPS doing interrupts outside of good DPS etc.
    2) Did the person step up to lead the group when needed? Sometimes explanations and marking need to be done, there's always new players coming and going.
    3) Was the person friendly? Joy and mirth during the dungeon run can make even those slow DPS or wipefest runs enjoyable.
    4) Whenever I feel fickle. Sometimes I've commended people for garish colour schemes and silly names.

That said, I haven't given very many commendations myself. Suppose I have far too high standards for the Duty Finder. <_<

Also, people going "commend pls" at the end of a dungeon can go suck it. That immediately demotes them to no commendation, regardless if they were the best player I had seen the entire week.

I give commendations to people who make me laugh and aren't elitist ragers. Those are about the only requirements.

I wish I could give them to more than just one person at times though; I've randomed with some pretty fun people.
