How about they just make it so the freecure procs for white mage are on crits, that way we can pretty much kill any diversity between the jobs while crippling badly geared whms (like how bad scholars suffer to good ones) while buffing the good ones. (Although I don't think you can even get a crit rate of 15% or higher with gear, but then I don't know the numbers)
