Has NM Drops been sucking for you too? XD

Well, this is going to be my rant post. First for a loonnng time. But, lately I been trying to get Bloatbelly to drop his Broken Aeolian Scimitar with no luck. wtfmate? When I go out we have 2 Riotblades, 2 Moonrise2, 1 Barrage, and yet not breakage lol.

So my question to you all my fellow Fabulians, What have you been doing to break his arm and have you been lucky to get a Broken Aeolian Scimitar?

We've gotten a couple swords, I don't remember what weapon skill array we did to get it but its possible. Well, I know you know its possible but I guess I am saying it'll happen sooner or later. Its so random you can't really make any kind of empirical reasoning behind it.

What can I say, just keep trying and best of luck to you.

Barrage is all you need, just bring your friendly neighborhood THM tank, a couple healers, and some ARCs and you're all set. Remember to do barrage on his right side (his sword arm).

The trick is to only to Barrage against the NM until his arm breaks, nothing else. That will give you enough time to actually break the arm. Once the arm is broke, go balls out on whatever buddies he has left, kill Bloatbelly after that.

Wait, a THM tank AND a couple healers? You shouldn't need 3 healers on gob. You shouldn't even need 2.

Lol, gob can be duo'd, easily, with any competent healer and DD. Though if you want to break the arm you'll need a 3rd for that as well.

Indeed, it's overkill, but will certainly get the job done, which was my point.

Ok, I normally don't respond to these threads, but this is a bit ridiculous. I'd like to offer a few tips, a mini-strategy I suppose, to the OP(who has hopefully gotten their drop by now) or anyone else working on this slightly overrated sword.

    1. Get a tank who has AOE tanking abilities(which is not actually a necessity surprisingly) and a healer, 2 if you want to be extra cautious I guess.
    2. Take out the bouncers one at a time, they should die very quickly.
    3. Generally, I like to take out one brag before putting pressure on the arm, this prevents 3 bombs at once, since most melee can live through 2 of them, but 3 can send you back to the node.
    4. Depending on your setup, either take out the last brag or just start working on his arm using barrage, moonrise II, and even riot blade(a bit slow but effective nonetheless). Make SURE your battle log says you are hitting him from the right. The NM has plenty of HP, so don't feel pressure if he's taking damage from other sources too.
    5. Once it's incapacitated, I think the rest writes itself.

Please note, this is not the "best" way, the "right" way, the "coolest" way, or whatever you'd like to say. It's just a pseudo-practical way, which has plenty of room for improvement and customization.

The reason I felt I needed to write this was because pigeonholing THMs as the only class that can tank this NM, and ARCs as the only class who can break the arm is absurd, as is bringing an army of healers. This demeans other classes that can be very useful in ANY fight. I can already envision people looking at this last strategy and saying "Nope, you're not an ARC, CON, or THM, so you go do leves or something while we fight." There are a multitude of strategies to get this sword, breaking the arm is the only bottleneck, and to tell the truth it's not that big of a wall to climb.

Just make sure you are hitting the arm correctly and you should be fine. Find a strategy that works for you. We've been looking at a drop rate of about 10% or so, but I'm sure this varies with other linkshells. Good luck on drop if you haven't gotten it yet, and to anyone else who wants this semi-decent item.

Edit: Holy crap that was longer than I meant it to be. Sorry for the textwall!

I agree. Frankly, this situation where unskilled groups are resorting to THM and ARC cheese to do everything is saddening. We never had to use this sort of gimmick before the massive nerfs, and they're completely unnecessary afterwards. Please stop advocating that others follow this trend. I'm sure this is going to offend people, but this kind of thing is unfair to your members by discouraging them from using the class they want when that class is perfectly viable but doesn't fit into the cheap strategy you're using. If you've got someone who wants to play GLA, let them tank, because that's what they're good at. Your THMs can at least DoT/heal/shadowsear/buff/debuff already.
