Extreme mode primals don't drop weapons. You do have to beat all 3 to get the tokens for the i90 weapons added to the shop (lo and behold, the Ancient Buckler's in there too).

i know they dont drop weapons but was asking where to get the questline as i got no single quest item

After you beat them the first time you get 3 tokens to buy weapons from the questline. Then wait a week you get the repeatable quest that tells you to beat all 3 again for another 3 tokens.

Once you kill the three Ex Primals the first time you get three tokens to turn in for weapon of your choice. You then, the following week, get to do a quest that sends you to kill those primals again for tokens to turn in for weapons. That is the weekly quest.

1 token per primal. 3 primals a week. 3 tokens for 1 weapon (or 1 weap/1 shield for PLD)
