I've been playing FFXIV flawlessly since the last phase of open beta, and through the Collector's Launch. And up until the last Server maintenance, I had never had a problem. Now I get randomly disconnected within minutes of starting a Guildleve, or I get a 30002 error after selecting a character. I managed to log in at about 7pm EST today for about 15 minutes for long enough to run back to camp, and then I disconnected, and haven't been able toget back in since. I've tried everything listed on the Support site FAQs, and even submitted an e-mail ticket, but it's not getting me anywhere, and it's not seeming to get this issue resolved. Hopefully if enough people are posting about this ridiculousness on the forums here we'll get a response, and maybe even a solution.

it could be the way your ISP routes to japan servers.
Hey guy... I used to have the same problem but I have had 0 DCs since.
I used to DC 300002 right when I logged in and randomly during gameplay. I thought for sure it was the game or my setup. I too did all the firewall, port, virus scan yada yada and nothing worked.
Out of frustration... I went out and picked up the best NETGEAR wireless router I could find and BOOM... not a single drop... EVER.
Initial setup: Wireless G into Cable Broadband with 2% packet loss as reported by pingtest.net and my lappy tweaked beyond belief.
Current setup: New wireless N into cable broadband with 0% packet loss and running ALL services, firewall, anti-virus, no port forwarding so essentially... default install. I didn't have to do anything to Windows at all...
In the end it was my crappy wireless router. No joke... I used to DC so much It was embarrassing.

Yeah, FF14 is -super- picky about dropped packets. Even without upgrading to a new router, just plugging my computer in with a hard line helped tremendously. I would suggest, if you are on /any/ wireless and having issues, plug in a hard line, give it a try. If that fixes it, you know what the issue is. If you have to use wireless, upgrading may be your only choice.

Still getting these issues almost two weeks in. SE's tech support simply told me, "it'll work itself out."
Okay, so this may be another issue. Several people reported this similar issue, except that they could connect to their character without problem on other people's computers / installs.
Make a folder on your desktop. Go into your documents / my games / final fantasy / and move everything in there into the folder on your desktop. If you don't mind making your macros again, re-arranging your widgets, chat colors, etc., then just try the game again. If you have a WHOLE lot of customizations (and who doesn't?) you can move your users folder back into the FF folder.
Its a generic fix that fixes a shit ton of random problems, so good luck!

This has happened to me too. Most commonly someone else in my house is torrenting (do you have any torrents open?), which clogs up whatever connection FFXIV needs. If I get the torrents turned off, the problem has always gone away instantly.
My problem magically fixed itself... nice one.
