Please Add a FOCUS TARGET to the controller buttons

I love playing with a controller, whether it be on my PS3 , my PC with my xbox360 controller, or my PS4 in the near future.

What has bugged me a little about FOCUS targeting with a controller is that you either have to add the command, make a macro for the command, or use the sub-menu to make a target your FOCUS Target.

The only reason I don't like adding the command to my cross bar is that in my opinion it takes up a slot that you can actually use for a valuable skill (thus reducing the overall need to switch crossbars).

I think it would be awesome to be able to set a focus target by adding the option to the L3 and R3 buttons on the controller. Considering the fact that I never use the POV or lockon features... being able to "SET FOCUS TARGET" on R3 would be exponentially better than "change camera" or " lock-on." It would also be faster than using the submenu. It seems like it would make controller play more natural.

    Anyone agree?

I have to agree. I don't play on ps3, but I do use a controller more often than not and I also never use the change camera button. I do use the draw/sheathe weapon button, mostly to dismount, not actually for combat, though it helps w/ mp regen for mages I suppose so it's worth it for that. At any rate, if I had the ability to set it to a button I might focus target more often.

    Totally agree with this idea.
What would also be nice is a button to switch between current target and focus target.
So for instance, you could use L3 to set the focus target and then use R3 to switch to the focused, perform an aciton ( such as an interrupt ) then use R3 again to switch switch back to the original target.

Could they also add a target of my target option ? This way healers can stay healing and whoever they have as their target- they attack their target in between rotations. It works real nicely in other games.

Someday I will find a PvP oriented game that will be as much fun as Dark Age of Camelot was in its heyday.. <still looking>

to stun/bind/silence/etc. a focus you can macro the ability as:
    /ac "Silence" <f>

to do the same, or toss general spells and such, the above is an option or macro:
    /micon "Aero"
    /ac "Aero" <tt>
    /ac "Aero" <t>

Those 3 lines will make your button still act the same as it always has, MP cost shown, CD, etc. except that hovering over won't show help popup. It will hit your targets target if it is valid, or if not it will try to hit your target. You can add /ac "Aero" <f> to it also if you /focus a boss or something, that way you can always have the tank targeted and still see all the bosses debuffs and recast yours as needed.

I of course still support adding a button press option for select focus and even switch to focus, I just think that having the macros makes it even more useful as you don't have to switch targets around ever. Removes the chance for mistargets.

My hotbars have room for all 27 skills, 4 markings and a macro... As a DPS that's 5 extra slots if you even use all 27 skills available to you at all, lol

I agree with this. Being able to set it to R3 would be great.

You can make your own buttons for this stuff.

    Set focus target:
    /focustarget <t>

    Target your focus target:
    /ta <f>

    Target your target's target:
    /ta <tt>

    That's it.

Yes, but that all takes valuable space on the cross hotbar, which could be used for other things.

While I agree more options is always good, I have to ask; what's wrong with picking "Focus Target" from the sub command menu?

All you do is press the square button, then up (to go to last option), then press X to confirm.
It's quick, simple, and eliminates the need for a macro slot.
