Here I am, still fishing and trying to make money. Seems like the prices are going down a little with fish but not much. I'm on Lamia by the way.

Sad to say, all these rare and hardtofind one star and two star fish are sitting in my retainer with still no actual value. I thought they would have a use with housing.. Can anyone give me info on this?

It's not pretty much false, i've played multiple MMOs with difficult to obtain guild constructs (houses, airships, etc- the latter in DDO) The only game ive played where any form of housing is "entry level" is FFXI where everyone starts the game with it (but it is comparably simplistic and for a long time was completely private).

You obviously haven't played many MMO's then.

1. Star Wars Galaxies: Players could craft their own guild halls using one of the crafting classes in the game and then sell them for whatever they wanted, even give them away.
2. Everquest 2: Guild Halls started at unreasonable prices, no one bought any. SONY saw the error of this and dropped the price by 2/3. Every player also starts with a free house/inn room.
3. Forsaken World: FLOATING guild halls obtainable by doing daily quests. Much better idea than being asked to just fork over an exorbitant sum of money.

To my knowledge, the only useful one is the Mahi-Mahi.

The most outrageous thing is that they introduced a new feature which used up a lot of development time and money for which everyone payed with their subscription and price of the game and then they deliberately limit it since putting up enough servers would be too costly and can't be done fast enough (not that they had severl months time to put up enough servers if they really wanted).

On the other hand they used the feature a lot for marketing trying to keep people subscribed and getting in new people who never could afford the feature anyway.

Something here went terribly wrong in project planning. At the moment they saw that the housing feature can't be run profitable since it generates too high server costs they should have redisigned it or scrapped it. One other option would have been to raise the subscription price for people who want to use the feature, like they already did with additional characer slots.

But now I basically subsidize people that play a lot twice already; players that are online much cost more CPU and bandwidth and are most likely the ones buying houses with their FC too, generating again more costs.

And why some people think personal housing will be more affordable is beyond me. If anything they will be even harder to get. If they can't afford to put up servers to accomodate most FC's they won't have enough servers but for a small fraction of players.
