    Jumping Puzzles

    Hi everyone,
I honestly do not know if this is the right section where to post this, I apologize in advance if it's not.
Right now, as in almost all MMORPGs, the "jump" feature in FFXIV:ARR is an end in itself, I would hope this feature would be used more intelligently. The only game in which the jump is used properly is Guild Wars 2. For give you an idea of what I'm talking about I don't know if I can post a video of some JP of GW2 , in order to not break the rules of the forum just go on youtube and search for GW2 Jumping Puzzles.

My question is: How about put in FF XIV:ARR a feature like this? It would be awesome for the treasure hunts perhaps ...

I can't speak for everyone, but I don't find awkward and super precise 3D platforming to be something that should be considered as a standard.

If they could do it in away that isn't as ridiculously frustrating as GW2 and make it a light bit of enjoyable exploitation then I could see the appeal.

I thought the jumping puzzles in GW2 were pretty fun. Some were particularly challenging, but still fun.

However you will find that for some reason a portion of the XIV population has a phobia of jumping in MMOs.

If jumps could help avoid/mitigate the stomps in titan I would jump like a kid throwing a tantrum. Plus it would be pretty awesome having the whole party jump in sync like the ending of every cheesy 80's teen montage.

You'll find however you're incorrect. MMOs based around jumping in active gameplay are almost always glitchy and lack the precision necessary to the point content remains broken and any hint of lag will turn it into Tomb Raider II. Heck even in GW2 the only reason you have to be absolutely precise is because it's wonky, same with the underwater stuff.

Yoshi already said he won't turn this into an action game where jumping will be required to clear content or to avoid attacks and so on - People agreeing with his stance =/= phobia of jumping.

Been playing Mario for, what, 25 years now maybe? Platforming is OK with me, so long as it's not ghetto platforming like that stupid ass mountain in FFXI in Attowah Chasm (AKA Falling With Style)!

Those insane, ceaseless jumping 'puzzles' are the reason I left GW2. Just not my thing.

Devs did a pretty good job of putting in a jump in 2.0, but making it pretty much cosmetic only, keeping the antijumpers happy. This is probably the only compromise in the history of MMOs in which all parties are at least not flaming angry anymore. Let's not restart this war.

For you and all people up there, the combat system must remain the same. My suggestion is only for content like treasure hunts that are a simple fights like the others and make them different from the other features. Trasforming FFXIV in a platform game or in GW2 will be a mistake but it will be interesting make the jump feature more useful.

a few puzzles, maybe, kind of like that mountain thing in FFXI where you had that really narrow path, but I would not go as far as saying it needs to be everywhere. Sprinkled in yes, dumped all over? No ;p

Go play The Secret World and do the jumping missions in Transylvania.

If you manage not to smash your computer in frustration, let us know how you feel about jumping puzzles after that.
