I usually play on keyboard and mouse, but I decided to try messing around with a gamepad.
How do you Scholars on gamepads or PS3s set up your hotbars? I'm kinda stumped.

1. The number of Lv.50 classes/jobs you have says nothing about your skill.
2. FATEs are responsible for the majority of Lv.50 "derps".
3. Don't blame a healer if you died in red zones; that was all on you.
4. As a healer, healing is your top priority; DPSing comes second.
5. As a tank, your healer can only keep you alive for so long; avoid red zones, too.
6. As a DPS, you're partially responsible for hate management, too.
7. Don't belittle newbs for their lack of skill or knowledge; you were one of them once.
I use three hotbars.
Starting from the top and going clockwise on each, the four groups go, from the left to right:
#1: Summon, Summon II, Sustain, Swiftcast. Eye for Eye, Fey Illum, Protect, Whispering Dawn. Rouse, Lustrate, Aetherflow, Sacred Soil. Succor, Adloquium, Physic, Leeches
#2: Copy of the Pet Hotbar, plus Resurrect, Spine Drops, Hi Elixers, and Echo drops filling in unused slots.
#3: Bio, Bio II, Miasma, Aero Shadowflare, Miasma II, Bane, Cleric Stance
I run the DD stuff on #3 so that you can be dealing damage and have all your healing icons one click away under your right thumb button for maximum speed of access.
From the fields of Planet Ragol and Vanadiel, conquering one new world at a time. Family transcending borders 2000-2014 and on - The Deneb 4 Crew / Knights of Deneb forever!
I have quite a similar set up with Dark, again 3 sets but I have all the items and buff spells and summoning spells ( skills that has either a long affect i.e protect and stone skin or items like ether ( which I hardly EVER use anyway ) since I wont be using them much once I've used it that one time and it's quite easy to flick back even if I do need it)
Second one is all the healing skills basically including the fairy "Eos" ones since they now screwed us over with the new patch =/ it used to be just embrace! now I had to give up 3 slots for the other 3 skills -_-"
and the third one has 4 main healing spells on the left so my aoe heal, physic, lustrate and adoloquim and the rest is my remaining attack spells and cleric stance![]()
http://imgur.com/a/xiJVa Here are screenshots of my setup (pre-patch; I've changed some stuff since 2.1 hit, but this should give you a baseline to start from) along with explanations of why I've done what I did. Hope this helps.
Edit: No, I didn't just whip this up for you, I did it a couple of weeks ago for someone else who asked me the same question. But since it's there...
I use 2 hotbars.
The primary hotbar for all healing and support skill. I can run through all dungeon by using just this hotbar alone. But most of the time I will switch to attack mode to help dps.
From left to right:
Instant-raise, soil, leech, succor, Fey illu, sprint, protect, rouse || physick, lustrate, adlo, drain, virus, whispering,Aether Flow, eyes4eyes
The secondary hotbar is meant for solo, attack, and some support skill that take time to cast.
From left to right:
LB, Instant summon1, Instant summon2, Cleric stance, miasma2, sprint, shadow flare, sustain || physick, stoneskin, adlo, drain, aero, macro all dots, aether flow, ruin2
The location of physick, adlo, sprint, aether flow, drain are the same in both hotbars in case of emergency.
for controling pet,*just toggle pet hotbar.
For me, the combination of R1+[triangle, square, left, up, down] are easiest, quickest and most comfortable to press. So I map skill that need to activate quickly in those slots.
