25) Fix disconnects problems (no kick from partys, no losing guildleves or factions..)
22) More client options (hide gear parts, fix sound volume for weather and doors, more chat tabs, chat colors, etc)
14) Linkshell Administration (kicks, adds, LS retainers, LS skills, LS customizable Icons..)
17) Fix Party leveling (Enmity, skillchains, kill chains, battle regimen allow to continue fighting)
20) Balance party combats (longer combats with more sp reward)
In that order. I only put 22 at the number two slot because of the weather/door volume. That doesn't need to be implemented, that needs to be fixed. They have to fix the problems first before they start incorporating new stuff. A lot of those things should not be difficult to implement. If somehow they are and take more than 1 programmer more than one work day to complete, then I agree with Nipa's number 2:
If the code is keeping you from allowing LS masters to kick anyone from their linkshell at anytime, you don't have a tool that's efficient for the job your trying to get done. It's like trying to drill holes in wood with a beautiful glass hammer.FF14 need...
1/ A dev team with people who actually played few recent and successful MMOs.
2/ A full engine and network code rewrite. From scratch.
3/ To drop PS 3 support.
4/ 2 more years of alpha-test and content development.
I think those little 4 are way enough to satisfy everyone.
Ah. From from your list? Pretty nothing in there is as much urgent as what I listed. Maybe that number 12. Yeah crafting unrelated minigames sounds really important, in case we are not already bored enough by the crafting ones. Oh, and that 29 too, dye on crafts, because we don't want the graphical team to actually works, do we?
9) More Full party quests
11) Balance Number of Disciples of Magic and Disciples of War
17) Fix Party leveling (Enmity, skill chains, kill chains, battle regimen)
14) Linkshell Administration (kicks, adds, LS retainers, LS skills, LS customizable Icons..)
25) Fix disconnects problems (no kick from parties, no losing guild leves or factions..)
There are several other things in my mind that need work, but this is my 5 from your list.
1. More content
2. More content
3. More content
4. More content
5. Chocobos
Where the *** is your AH now? Most Westerners voted for that ***, now have you come to your senses? So glad Yoshida didn't listen back then.
1) Optimize the servers
2) Optimize the engine
3) overhaul the combat
4) materia system to fix dol, doh, and the economy
5) more milestones.

- The entire UI and Menu system still needs a massive overhaul. What we have now functions but not as it should. Everything from inventory management, to the time it takes to load individual windows. A more icon/tooltip centric system would be better.
- Targeting with a mouse needs to be overhauled. I have no desire to tab through targets. I want to click with ease and not have to worry about terrible camera mechanics and locking on the enemy. This is clearly an issue with PS3 development, so maybe they need to consider scrapping PS3 development which would improve other aspects of the game as well.
- Non-leve/quest related content. Ie: FF Card games, Chocobo Raising, Player Housing, Guild Housing. Grinding is incredibly boring and so are levequests. Bringing content that gets people away from monotonous tasks improves the overall experience of the game. These shouldn't be rushed out just to put out content, but they need to come eventually before the game is P2P (if it can even return to P2P).
- Overhaul linkshell/guild administration.
- Allow addon development. Independent developers can fix what they find necessary as it comes along. SE has the opportunity to see what is developed and then later implement it into the core game.
-----
And then my list of top 5 things that should happen to this game but won't.
- PS3 Development Scrapped
- Servers become language and region localized (not IP locked)
- The current job system is replaced by an FF Tactics style system.
- City/Street building that is instanced. Linkshells/Guilds can purchase a street to centralize their products and their own player housing.
- The game is shut down and SE gives us all a complementary free SE game (in the next two years) if we show our FFXIV Key. Then SE returns to the MMO development and makes a new worthwhile MMO for the PC only, where everything works on launch.
I ommitted battle revisions because they are in the works and we don't know how they will function yet.

Sounds like they should instead scrap the PC development and stop trying to appeal to the fickle MMO audience that will change games in a heartbeat anyway and focus on the core audience of the franchise on the platform they are most familiar with.
You aren't as important as you'd like to believe.
Ok, sure go full PS3 development then. Either or. But I don't think they can do both unless they are separately developed. The UI for the PS3 has to be menu-centric due to the limitations of a pad. They need to develop the PS3 interface separately from the PC then.
I'd like to point out Dungeon Siege III as a great example for this. If you download the demo on PC, you can easily tell the PC version was just a port of the controls of a console. A lot of PC ports suffer from the same issues because developers are too lazy to develop functioning controls that work better and more efficiently than a console menu. If you time someone and count how many input functions it takes for a console vs PC, you'll find PC is drastically more efficient (quicker and fewer inputs). This leads to an improved gameplay performance overall. People are still entitled to wanting to use a more cumbersome and clunky menu system if they want, but I'd prefer to play on a UI that was developed and works for the main focus of the game right now -- the PC.
Developing both systems at once doesn't mean PS3 and PC users cant play together, it just means they'll be using a different UI. But currently the PC menu is being held back by the PS3, which has been put on in indefinite hold. Which means, the UI development is on hold? No thanks, it needs to be updated to PC standards and then PS3 can be developed on its own.
Furthermore, PS2 limitations = XI. Enough said.
Also, I have no idea where you get "fickle audience" from, because as far as I am aware, console games have a drastically shorter lifespan than most PC games. CoD is a great example. I know several people who have played the same MMO's with me over a span of 8-10 years.

I agree 100%. This has been a huge point of annoyance for me.
As far back as the beta feedback forums, it's been said that dual UI's need to be developed for this game. One for PC (keyboard/mouse) and one for PS3 (controller). If feasible, they could implement an option so that you could choose which style you prefer (such as for those who want to play on their PC but use a controller). The one-size-fits-all approach is making both parties unhappy.
I want to be able to single-click options with my mouse instead of going through layers and layers of menus. I want right-click functionality. I want my left-mouse-click to manually pan my camera, and the right-mouse-click to pivot my character. I want drag-and-drop functionality when I load up my action bar. And while we're on the subject, I don't want to flip through action bars, I want all of them visible all the time. I want to be able to target NPCs on my screen without having to click my mouse 3 times before selecting them because my nameplate is in the way and it keeps targeting me.
I'm seriously tired of feeling like I'm playing a console port, and that the keyboard/mouse players are an afterthought.
FFXI was near and dear to my heart, and I played for 4 years. I've considered playing again, but the fact that it is purely a console-style menu driven interface with zero mouse functionality is the single biggest thing that's keeping me from doing it. I only put up with it back in 2004 because it was my first MMO. But I know trying to pick it up again would frustrate the heck out of me.
I do believe Yoshi-P said at one point down the line they'll be looking into developing dual UI's. It can't come soon enough for me.
