If the small FC house is that tiny can you imagine personal housing?!

I think the Devs painted themselves in a corner with their approach on housing. Think about this... The small FC house will cost players millions and millions of gil. So basically you are entrusting most of your hard earn gil to buy one person (your FC leader) a house. That alone stinks, because if you ever leave your FC or get kicked then you are out your gil you put in.

Secondly, the biggest problem I foresee is what happens when FCs buy a small house and then later find out that maybe personal housing may be bigger and cheaper to buy. I would think they would feel ripped off and feel stupid.

On the other hand, the Devs knowing this problem. So to combat this, they decide to make personal houses smaller then a small FC and/or make them into huge gil sinks with almost nothing but fluff value to them.

Either way, I don't have much faith or trust in their decisions on housing.

The FC I'm in usually has around 390-450 members in it, depending on when the high-ups clean out the deleted and inactive accounts. >w>

Even though the small houses appear to be too small for crafting stations and chocobo farms, they appear to have enough land for gardening still or the size of each of the three utilities maybe proportional to your FC lot/house.

Personal housing is going to be cheap they say. I would speculate because they are mainly a place for storing your personal stuff, junk and a little household decorating. Nothing too special. People are paying for the future utilities provided by the FC lots and houses. Personal housing, atm, has no official announcement of anything beyond just being something for "personal" use.

Honestly, I liked the idea of the 'neighborhood' instances when I first heard it, but now, I'm kinda over that. The combination of the instances feeling dull/cramped and the houses themselves being instances within an instance instead of being more 'open' sort of killed the appeal.

At this point, I'd honestly rather personal housing be a secluded lot you can buy with a large instance around it and areas you can place multiple buildings... That may seem to spit in the face of FC housing since it'd afford more than the current setup does, but at least it'd serve to leave FCs with the distinction of having their own neighborhoods.

Actually, I like that idea. Instead of having all the FC houses together on each instances, each FC house should get their own instance slot, what you pay for determines the size of the FC house, and the surrounding lands would be for personal housings to make it a community thing and more interactions. SE is already going to have instances for personal housing, so may as well change how the whole housing system works. FC house being the community center or call it a townhall with members's houses all around it.

Well... I meant more of 'each person can get their own instance for personal housing' since tying personal housing to a FC instance still opens up certain issues (what if you get kicked or the FC disbands? Or, as in my case, what if you don't do the whole FC thing in the first place?)

But I guess allowing people to have their own lot there in addition to an instance for their own, separate, house could work too...

I think FC Cottage would be fine if they just added a second floor or basement. We just hit Rank 6 and the biggest con for not buy a small lot is the size of the house. People feel it is just too small and better suited for personal homes.
