Go play another game, one thats offline and not party based, unlike a mmorpg..How can this game feel epic if you can AOE down things? Easy, it makes you feel like an elite character which the unwashed masses can't take down even with mob tactics. When you (the hero) show up on the battlefield, the tides turn as the lowly infantry get swept away by the power of your attacks. You are a rallying point that everyone else looks to when things are darkest, and when the elite officers of the enemy forces show up on the field, you are the only one who can take them down. Trash and mongrels are beneath your notice, only other Epic Spirits is worth facing one on one.
While we're on this topic~
Its funny how SE threw away almost everything that worked in XI.
Just sayin'![]()
I'd say the most "epic" thing about XIs endgame was the varied types of battles you could access.
Thats including the volentary ones. (Like 3 man UFOs for emample)
This guy is on to something.
Zilart & CoP had some very cool story, related, boss encounters, that made me feel like a kid again. Music added with the atmosphere make for any epic fight, If the SE can mimic the story & atmosphere FFXI had , with its boss encounters, FFXIV will be in good shape.
This is an RPG MMO, so going off that, anything that reminds me of classic rpg, pen paper D&D is doing it right... I love that feel. This is not an action game like DMC or God of War, some fans do like the traditional way of rpg'n.
This was one of my favorite battles in FFXI:

I was confused since he's talking about the dungeon content like he has already seen it.
I'm still amazed that people think it's easier to kill several mobs then it is to kill one mob. Atleast that's what I think I'm reading in this thread. It all depends on how it's implemented. It all depends on SE.in 14 all i see end game and dungeons being is thiers a huge group of monsters tank runs in every1 goes in aoes the shit out of them they all die o hey thiers another group tank runs in every1 goes in aoes the shit out of them they all die o he.... so on
do ppl find this fun? is this rly what might come out of ff14?
I wouldn't want to aoe down a group of 6 imps or 6 raptors without some tactics now that I think about it. There are probably more complex combinations out there that can be more terrifying.

It could have been annouced that this will change, i can remember, but imma put it out there any way because the op is missing somthing... the current claim system, where only 1 mob can be claimed at a time, if the dungeons are like ffxi where normal mobs drop gear/items to progress just AOEin the mobs will cause all but 1 item that can drop to be lost, because unclaimed mobs dont drop anything.first off ill say yes ff11 was my first mmo and i loved it :\ so yes this is from that
but now to the point
to me what made stuff like dynamis epic in 11 is because it was against multiple enemys when the entire engine was mainly revolved about 1 enemy vs a party at a time and end game was completly different to the game. it added a diff strategy that was no where else in the game (yes mainly sleeping and kiting but that was something :| it ment u had to have blms and rdms wasted on sleeping) also the meele resistant ppl.
so to the main point
in 14 all i see end game and dungeons being is thiers a huge group of monsters tank runs in every1 goes in aoes the shit out of them they all die o hey thiers another group tank runs in every1 goes in aoes the shit out of them they all die o he.... so on
do ppl find this fun? is this rly what might come out of ff14?
Therefore with the current claim system what the op said will not work.
As I said i think i remember Yoshi-P or the reps saying the claim system will be changed soon, but im not 100%
Btw, i can remember a lot of fights in ffxi with adds
and we could hit them with aoe, sometimes tactics require it, other don't (and was bad hitting that :X )
so, the hell we discussing ?
