He was asking a question, there is no need for that.

Instead of laughing at my ignorance, which I never hid, perhaps you can enlighten me?

I'll check out the BiS articles for Spell Speed. I look at Puro's spreadsheet but I'm honestly overridden with... confusing stuff lol.

All the builds are pretty close to each other for BLM, given how each stat's pretty strong. 50's quite a huge stretch; testing my minimum accuracy dungeon build on a dummy vs my 470 ACC build, the difference is on average barely 10-15 DPS (calculated by pencil and paper of course), and that difference is a bit more than two side by side builds at the same ACC.

So while it may "only" be 10-15 dps (to me that seems like a lot, but lets say for sake of argument its negligible) in a raid situation where you'll have Selene giving you a 50% up time of a 30% spell speed buff you'll see an even greater increase in damage.

One thing I'd like to note: if you're just playing your Black Mage casually for big numbers and not taking it into competitive raiding scenarios, build crit, don't matter. Do what's fun for you. But if you want to do competitive dps in raids you gotta go SS...the difference really is astounding in almost every fight.

The 10-15 DPS difference was between a no accuracy build vs 470 accuracy build. You seem to be implying it's a CHR vs SS build.

And as to Stouter, its not just the extra casts...Again as I've been saying, its the extra Firestarter procs as well, which in a SS build is kind of like getting a free crit when you get one a crit build would not have. Barring that, even 5 dps is a massive difference to me. Obviously its subjective, but as a person who has experienced the last second kill before wiping to an enrage or dying to an enrage with the boss in mmos at 1% or less hp, 5 dps is huge. But at the end of the day the thread is about Black Mages and stacking Spell Speed vs. stacking Crit and SS is better.

At the extremes (around 120 Crit vs 120 SS, Acc and DET the same) you're looking at around 4% more damage per spell vs 4% more spells cast without Selene on either build.

With Selene on both builds, it's about 5-6% more spells vs the same 4% more damage per spell.

It's far from ground breaking, roughly 5 dps difference in stand still and chain nuke comparison. Skill and experience in the fight account for much more of a difference.

    3% faster, not 10%.
