FFXIV on the Wii U

Back to the topic of the thread ... I think Wii U is going to be an excellent console, and the ideas of FFXIV you stated for the Wii U would be really awesome. I believe that, since FFXIV won't be released for Xbox 360, putting it on the Wii U will really help with the player base, just like when FFXI was released to Xbox 360. It's too bad that Microsoft refuses to let SE port it to 360 (that's what I heard about it anyway), because having the game across 3 consoles and on PC come the relaunch would greatly boost the amount of players in the game. If only Microsoft would come to their senses, and hopefully Nintendo allows it to happen.

Ditto! I would get an Wii U just to play FFXIV there! ^^ I already have a PS3 but i really would rather using Wii U since it seems to be able to offer a much more complete controller option than PS3, like being able to map extra buttons at touch screen, using virtual KB and even having the action palette there! I'd cream my pants if i could have every single action equipped at touch screen during fight ^^

This. Plus, it'd be more expensive to sign a deal with Nintendo and it's new system rather than just keeping the contract with Sony.

They can get PS3 version out anytime they want it was completed in Novemeber, they won't release it however until FFXIV is up to scratch and currently the game just isn't good enough. They need the PS3 release to be a success to ensure the survival of FFXIV. If it got released now, sure the reviews would be a bit better than what it got at launch but lack of content and many other complaints would remain.

So with that, there is no reason why it shouldn't be released on Wii U or any other console (360) as it is down to the current state of FFXIV that it's releases has been held back not technical problems with the console. Having said that though we have heard a PS3 limitations excuse a few times in regards to new features so maybe if they are hitting the limits on PS3 already they should drop support for it and move to the Wii U if it is actually a more powerful platform.

What I mean by them not being able to get the PS3 version out is that they are unable to ship the game at this point in time without the results being disasterous. So, in that context, no they can't get it out. So why not spend time improving upon something than just slapping it on another console "just because"? The Wii U offers pretty much nothing except for a controller gimmick and slightly improved graphics capability (1080p vs 720p isnt that big of a deal unless you sit 2 feet from your TV).

Im not trying to troll here, but spreading your resources too thin when your game is already on life support would just spell disaster and show incompetence from a managerial standpoint. Maybe after they release the PS3 version and pull a profit, they can consider the Wii U...but it's suicide to jump the gun right now. Oh and the Wii U isnt even confirmed to have a HDD yet...which is crucial for any modern MMO via updates. Sure, it supports external HDDs, but do you know how slow that is? :/
