Handicap system for new players at end game?

After running some encounters at end game and seeing how newer players are getting treated simply because their learning experience leads to the deaths of those who are more experienced, I think it makes sense to have some kind of handicap system in place that gives the newer players a buff based on some kind of metric relative to the more experienced players. So if a new player joins a Titan hardmode group that is "farming" Titan, that player would get a buff since the farm group members likely have more Titan kills than the new player in question.

I mean, it's an idea at least. We already have people being forced to sneak into these runs in party finder (not saying that is a good thing), at least this would help ease the burden on the rest of the group hypothetically.

Don't you think that would encourage more players to queue for new content unprepared? And there is only so much a "handicap" could make up for. And what good does a +15% dmg increase help when a new player is landslided?

It is a stretch but at the moment it's probably the simplest thing to implement. They could also do a group wide buff for bringing a new player along or provide greater rewards like they do with instances, but the problem isn't the reward as much as people not wanting to lose time from deaths. The preparedness issue is a different problem that needs to get addressed in another fashion. I know in World of Warcraft they have in game cheat sheets for bosses at end game and they could do something similar here. The point is that the new player should know somewhat how the boss operates, not necessarily know how to win. That's sort of the main issue right now with these fights.

    Good point though.

I like it. I feel the buff should be for defense and offense and this privledge should only go thru the trials. Everyone wants their "relic." After that, people should go to school and do their homework on the instance/dungeons or craft/pvp. The duty Finder tonite had sooo many people under geared TRYing to do titan HM. I had a BRD that died every time after the first lay of the land. 6 friggn matches in a row. Bad thing was, he was the leader. Why should the rest of the team get punished for such a situation? Another possible solution, 1 of the guys in our grp was running a parser and calling out a way under geared BRD. Is it possible to raise the gear standards before Titan HM ?

Someday I will find a PvP oriented game that will be as much fun as Dark Age of Camelot was in its heyday.. <still looking>
