    Warriors CAN dps

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxMxLb3qki0

After watching this video, it got me going, what if I did the same. in the burst part at the end of the video, I have the same axe from howling eye, so I went MRD burst build and WOW, 950-1000 crits, 400-500 auto attacks crits, 350-380 auto attacks non crits, the damage just screams out BURST BABY, I felt like a ret paladin from WoW.

We cleared AK just as fast as if a lancer/monk combo. It was fun.

I wonder what kind of damage I could do in pvp if I were to go this burst build lol :P

I use WAR with with Myth /phils gear and no crafted gear and pull 1k+ blocks and 1100+ inner beasts while tanking. WAR rocks when out of Defiance as well. Not more than a straight dps class of course but deff nothing tolook over.

Im only ilvl 84 war and I'm already crit-ing for 900+. If you want to be a useful OT I suggest practicing dancing in and out of Defiance. I almost feel like there should be a "Warrior Rotation Reborn" thread, which is gonna pop in the near future.

However MRD is somewhat viable in the high level, 50-60 dungeon. At higher levels like BC you need to get a job. The skills you get is just too good.

Burst Damage has it's place and time, which is how DRG's can out dps MNK in short burst fights and in instances where WAR might be off tank it can be advantageous to have that ability especially when they may need to shift roles on the fly. Either way, PLD and WAR both have some good DPS potential in them and it's good to exploit it when you can like when your overgeared for content or essentially a needless off tank that isn't used for a fight.

As for me I can't confess to hit numbers quite that high on PLD in DPS gear, but critting over 600 and 700 damage pretty consistently is a good tradeoff for not being able to hit those spike numbers.

Highest Crit ive seen on my PLD is like 800 or so and thats very rare since our best attack is based on how much HP we have at the time of use. On my WAR I almost always get over 1000 Crit with buffs up. And turn off Defiance and that chance is increased even more. I dont think I ever seen a PLD break 1000+

Pretty sure he's not talking about getting huge crits but rather the "able to DPS" descriptor that's being ascribed to WAR.

Also, Crit damage != high DPS. If it were, my WAR as a tank would be dealing more damage than the BRDs that I run with (the highest they get is 600 or something, which is about as hard as my non-crit BB). WAR has short periods of high damage (Unchained + Berserk + Internal Release); PLD has longer periods of increased damage (Fight or Flight) as well as a crapton more individual hits/ticks (faster attack speed, Sword Oath, CoS for DoTs all the time). The same is true of the healers (SCH and WHM damage are all about DoTs, except for Holy which is for the AoEs).

DPS is explicitly the average damage dealt for one second over a long period of time. A single data point in the form of a critical hit means next to nothing.
