Slow Download of 2.1 Patch, Leading to Error and Restarting

I've been trying to download the new 2.1 patch and playing FF arr, but my ips isn't exactly the fastest around. Every time I try to download the patch, it patches at a 0.01mb/s rate. That wouldn't be a problem, if the download didn't error constantly every time I get close to completing the download. My networks also cuts me off after 12 hours, so, at the rate I download, I'm never going to complete it, at least, not until next year, when my net is refreshed and it's speed is a bit higher. However, I'm really not looking forward to trying to download this patch over and over, wasting my data, and losing money not playing ARR. Plus, it really doesn't help that the updater deletes the progress you made when it starts over.

I just want to ask, is there ANY workaround for this? Is there a way to continue where you left off, or, at least, a manual patch to download?

I was hoping to have my game updated in time for the winter event, but, at this rate, I'll miss it. Please help.

I'm having the same issue. Not sure how to resolve, have tried everything short of uninstalling and re-installing the client.

Yeah, I'm not restarting the whole client. When the game first came out, I had to wait a week or so just to download. I don't wanna slow download 8GB again...

Totally frustrated with this too.
Been downloading since friday. Had errors after it completed (after 12hrs or so). I started redownloading and its 1.9Gb instead of the original 3Gb. However this has now failed 3x and I m getting a bit tetchy as I have now wasted 3 days of my holiday downloading.

I am severely tempted to start all over again, it will take a couple of days but I'm still not sure this will work.
SE support helpfully suggested I contact SE support , wtf!
