says in letter ten that jobs are planned to be in before the end of summer. Will it happen? Nobody knows.
Its been mention by Yoshi, in his letter, that we will be getting 2 dungeons this coming patch, no? And he said that the new dungeons are going to be party based using the new job system, no? He also mentions that 1.18 is going to be the biggest patch we have downloaded as of yet. (over 500mb..don't see why not.).
He also said, in his letters (either 8, 9 or 10 can't remember), we will be running these new dungeons, only with the new job/battle system... I'll let this logic sink in.
So, lets deduce shall we,... If the new dungeons are supposed to be in 1.18 and Yoshi-P wants us running these new dungeons with the new battle system (which correlates around the new job system). We can imply that one, we get our new job quest missions so we can work towards running the new dungeons in 1.18a/b, party style. Or two, if we go by the logic half of you are using, we won't see dungeons till the end of summer, as Yoshi has clearly said, that the new dungeons are only for the new battle system that is coming. 1.18 will be a huge patch, and a lot of us will be surprised. There always a calm before the storm. And Yoshi is doing just that, making us wet with anticipation.
If you all think we are going in those dungeons with the same boring classes we have now, that bring nothing to the table, were fun is concerned, you are fooling yourselves.
p.s.
- Class system and the new Job system are two different things. The rule.. "This weapon is only used for this Class only"... will not be the rule set applied too the new Job system, I hope people understand this.
- I also heard that Yoshi might be releasing new classes from that of the list, that was data mined near release, one of them being Fencer.
- I believe that there will be a CS after we first log in, after 1.18. To start the new adventure off.
- We have been let down so many times, that all of us really think that we don't deserve a great, awesome patch.
- 1.18 is going to be better than most of you want to believe it will.
Quote from letter 10..."This time around, the list contains additions planned for up until summer 2011. You see what I did there with the bold font for emphasis? But anywho, without further ado, feast your eyes on the list in its
entirety! (Remember, these are our plans until summer 2011!)"
I believe the list he gives us is an old list, of things that they have already completed as he bolds "until summer 2011". Which means 1.18a/b would have all that stuff included.
People thinking the letter is an error with that date. Let me remind you they have people that proof read these things over and over, before sending it out so unless someone has stated that it was a mistake and its meant to say Until the end of summer 2011. I'm gonna stick to this idea.
If I'm wrong then this is the biggest "Hype Bomb Fail" I've every experienced as a gamer. As I love the FF franchise, and I can't get into anything else, as I'm wanting to play this game the way its meant to be played.

if that team worked for me they would of been put on a different project along time ago. might be atleast a year late on schedule wasting all that money on bandwith and paying them for working slow as hell.
Community rep replied to us and clarified that it should have said, until the end of summer. Don't have a link, but I'm not lying.
our untill they change that.Quote from letter 10..."This time around, the list contains additions planned for up until summer 2011. You see what I did there with the bold font for emphasis? But anywho, without further ado, feast your eyes on the list in its

AOC is a bigger game and that got fixed with a less experence dev team in a fraction of the time square needs. If I'm wrong then this is the biggest "Hype Bomb Fail" I've every experienced as a gamer. So basically SE shouldn't set dates like "mid-June" at all and just say "it's done when it's done"? I don't agree.. Arena net and whatnot said straight up the game will be done when its done. And that is great. SE makes bad decisions and ends up shipping out a game that is a mere shadow of what it should have been according to early dev videos. The best pace is a pace that isnt teathered to a specific release date. Say it is done when it is done and you have all the time in the world.
Although they have been doing just that for the past half a year. They won't release their major overhauls before they're done, and the community criticizes them for it. They can't win. I wouldn't be surprised if you have done the exact same thing too. Which would be hypocritic, so I hope not.
That game wasn't even half as broken as XIV is, and their "fixes" were laughable in scope compared to what SE is attempting to do. So, about right.AOC is a bigger game and that got fixed with a less experence dev team in a fraction of the time square needs.

Here is the link for the clarifications of "until summer" => "until the end of summer"
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...417#post147417
Also it was said "at the earliest" mid June though, I am craving any information these days myself. Hopefully mon/tues will equal a juicy tidbit.
animation, gear, and weapons, etc....are all part of battle systems.and gear. and weapons. and balancing. and new skills. and new animations. and new balancing.
i did include balancing twice for a reason. they will not get it right the first time and will take multiple attempts. all of the things i listed are new stuff to be hard coded in not just selecting things. that being said i still do not believe they will have the new jobs out in this patch. they may have them out by the end of summer, but i feel so much new stuff added will lead to major balancing issues i do not think they are capable of handling at one time.
The job system itself is just plain old stats and skills you group together.
Sure you want to have animations...but then even without the job we want new animations (oooh spinning circle works for everything right?)
And more or less the skills are already there.
Nothing really hardcoded is directly associated with a job system. It's simply a tree diagram in all simplicity. A really complex puzzle in details. That's where all the problems are.
This one is one thing they can't code their way out of. It is good old fashion brain power.

dude they released their entire game before it was done so stop kidding yourself. And no i'm no hypocrit, i was one of the people who during beta was saying god they need to extend this no way this should go out. It went out anyway so i thought maybe they had a huge patch for release. After that it has been deadline after deadline that has been met late, so yes the community will be rather turned off by that. All i'm saying is they should stop trying to put a deadline on everything. They should have did this before release but hey they put themselves in this predicament. They would win by doing simple things like saying hey all these things will be done by the end of summer and not even putting a mid june release date on 1.18, then when it comes out in june people can be like wow changes are already rolling out! However SE puts dates in peoples minds and this causes outrage when the date comes and goes and nothing happens. So basically SE shouldn't set dates like "mid-June" at all and just say "it's done when it's done"? Lol, maybe that's a "win" for you but I'd be pissed to know that patches that have come monthly so far are put in the trash bin and instead we get vague dates like "Summer '11" for the future patches..
And frankly i need to ask who exactly would think that patches didn't start coming in mid-June if a "Summer '11" date was given? We'd simply expect a patch week after week and without no solid date to go on, we would be enraged by now. Especially since the patches were coming monthly not so long ago.
We already went through half a year of development behind the scenes with no timeframe as for when the overhauls are coming, as per normal when a game is in development. Now it's like ArenaNet announcing the official beta testing dates. They may be slightly off too, but is that a reason not to announce them? I don't think so.
Either way, you are naive if you think people won't start expecting patches the week Summer begins and become more and more frustrated when nothing happens week after week. Give them a slightly vague date like mid-June and they'll at least wait until mid-June before becoming frustrated.
