    i think that we will see some small changes to the game in 1.8 like more defined roles in party to start the set up for the job system I.E if your a healer then you will be locked out of damageing spells if you a DD then no more cure or protect for you, and if these changes go down well with the masses then the job system wont be fair behind.

    Pretty sure they've said they're only adding restrictions to Jobs, which're intended for party play. For solo play, they're still expecting you to primarily use the more open-ended Classes. So, MRD would still be able to cure himself. Whatever Job MRD unlocks? I doubt it.

    They'll probably just tone down the cross-class possibilities and make some skills reserved for jobs.

    Which will of course lead to a shitstorm here. It makes the game better though, so that's fine.

    Well the biggest question is going to be the PLD/GLA one, which is going to be better for tanking the open ended GLA with Emulate, Accomplice, Defender II, Cure III, and Sacrifice III attached to it or GLA which is potentially going to be restricted and not have some of said abilities.

    yea agree when soloin things will be the same as they are now pretty much, but for party base content you will be lockout of most other classes/jobs spells/actions unless they work with what role you choose to play, this is to bring in more refined roles to party play. well its the way it seems to me anyways could be wronge tho

    While not the biggest question by far, imo, you do bring up a good point. The jobs must be significantly more useful in a party setting than its corresponding class, otherwise why even implement a new system? This will be true for all jobs, in almost all circumstances where a party of 4+ is required. If this isn't the case, SE will have failed. I do not, however, think that grouping with a normal class will be restricted, beyond however they decide to balance equipping cross-class abilities. Classes will remain useful in solo/small group settings, and I'm sure other circumstantial situations, but endgame (and hopefully effecient sp) will be jobs > classes.

    I don't know what "cost assessment" means. Is that an assessment of manpower tradeoffs? I'd like to know.

    If jobs aren't in 1.18, I know a ton of people who won't be playing anymore.

    LOL then those ppl best be quitting now because Jobs will not be in 1.18... SE has already said wont be until after the battle changes which is 1.18.

    IMO if ppl expect more then 2 Dungeons, 10 Quests, Maybe a mission quest or 2, the start of battle updates, potential nerf of Emulate in 1.18 then they are sadly mistaken because that is all 1.18 is going to be most likely.
