You missed the point. Primals in 1.0 dropped tokens because many times, most times in fact, you got no weapon drop at all. And yes, Garuda dropped a token every single time, but you needed 40 of them for one weapon. Lastly, because a weapon drops EVERY time in 2.0, there will be no tokens. They've already said no.

If the tank was not a friend of yours, then you should have just taken it. Need beats greed, if he wanted the DRG weapon, then he should have run the instance as a DRG.

The need button doesn't mean "click me if I light up". It means "click me if you need the item". In a situation such as the OPs, greed would have been the right way to do it, as he had no need for the item aside from stuffing it into a retainer.

I would have need it too, for collection or vanity purpose. Unless you are in FC party or with friends do not expect other would pass for you and I would not expect other would pass for me either.
If they want something for a particular class then just queue with that class

If you run as a dragoon and a dragoon piece drops, you can roll need for any reason at all. If you want it for your collection, that's good enough. Need means you get first dibs, so if you want it, go for it. Greed means you got dibs if no one else wants it. The way gear works, there will be times when you want something but won't be able to need on it. Take your rewards when the game gives them to you, and be gracious about not getting loot when it's someone else's turn.

OP, it was very generous of you to let the tank have have the spear, when clearly the tank didn't need the weapon either. I think you should have rolled need, though. In fact it was rude of the tank to ask you to give up your reward. Do they also give up their rewards when they have a chance to roll need?

There's not very much gear that people "need" in this game. There are lots of ways to earn good gear, so don't be guilt tripped into giving away rewards to selfish people.

Meh only like 50 runs of garuda to get all 9 weapons, easily done when you can do runs in 4 minutes....Only done titan about 10 times but I have 3 weapons, so I'm kinda lucky. It's not like primal's are hard once you know their strategies. Why would you even want the primal weapons anyways? They are only stepping stones to a relic weapon, which isn't that hard to get....

Also the 1.0 token system was you had a chance to get nothing important, a token, or a weapon. Everyone had their own chest which they got loot from, meaning you could get a whm weapon even though you were a war, and couldn't trade it to the whm.

Vanity, collection take your pick. I myself have bow, spear, BLM weapons and ACN/SMN books from Ifrit, Garuda and Titan. The Mog weapon are kinda cute, I got Mogfist and Mogbow

Erm, no it doesn't. It means you get first choice on the item as it is relevant to your class. Whether you want the item as your main weapon, back up, or to use as a doorstop is irrelevant. If that tank wanted to farm weapons then he should have joined a pre-made with that goal, not bullied the DRG out of taking what he was entitled to.
