ET aka Eorzea Time

So Eorzean Time seems to run 60 times faster than ours. 1 hour there is like 1 minute here. What kind of planet Eorzea must be to have such short days? Some planets have longer days and some have shorter days but Eorzeas days are extremely short. What is the reason for this? Are there any Physicists in here who can explain what kind of planets have days this short?

No point in discussing real-life and real-time physics when comparing a game set in a 100% fictional universe with it's own assumed set of rules. The only reason it exists this way is so you actually experience a day/night schedule whilst playing, instead of just being stuck in the time you log in at.

How exactly is this convenient? I find it confusing more than anything. I see night and day swapping every 12 minutes or so. Not linking it much tbh.

Well if it was in real time there could be some issues with time zones and you'd have to get up really early just to gather some stuff, I mean sure it'd be immersive and realistic I guess but yeah I personally rather not. A whole Eorzean day is 72 minutes so you don't have to wait that long, most games with a day and night cycle have sped up times. It's a videogame in the end, I'm sure there are other games that handle it in real time maybe a couple other MMOs if you want that sort of thing.

Have you ever played games like Zelda or any game with a clock system? It's normal for in game time to be sped up quite a bit, when it's available anyways....

I don't mind the time, although I wish a whole day/night cycle will be slower
