GLA Riot Blade combo and Tempered Will suggestion

GLA needs a finisher to their "Riot Blade" combo, preferably something suitable to an off-tank situation.

I suggest combining "Tempered Will" with the "Enhanced Sentinel" trait to free up an Action slot, and bring a new Weapon Skill into the mix to compliment a Paladin off-tank looking to get in some dps without inadvertently ripping hate away from the main-tank.

Swift Blade: delivers an attack with a potency of 100 TP Cost: 60
Combo Action: Riot Blade Potency: 270 Bonus: Heal with a potency of 100 to all party members close to target.

Something in this ballpark would be neat, though this is only a suggestion. Some kind of weaponskill to finish out the Riot Blade combo that doesn't involve enmity, yet still benefits the main-tank in some way.

My final suggestion would be, unrelated to the title, for "Shield Swipe" to be taken off the global, have it's potency reduced, and tag a 15 second cooldown, while still requiring a block to activate. Currently, it's difficult to use effectively in combat to prevent incoming attacks due to it being restrained by the global cooldown, and it's sporadic availability.

    EDIT:

This could be a more interesting idea, bringing back concepts from 1.0 that were scrapped along the way.

Riot Blade at the moment though, is definitely just a niche weapon skill that serves one purpose (MP regeneration for Flash). It's not going to lose anything by not having a finisher combo off it, but it would be a nice thing to have.

Red Lotus Blade, I forgot about that! That might make a bit more sense since it'd be a GLA move and not just a PLD Weapon skill.

I miss Howling Vortex and Luminous Spire, we could definitely use more AoE weaponskills (we have none), especially ones with magical damage.

Red Lotus Blade is a defintie plus too.

Bring back Phalanx for us and Spinstroke (increases attack power when the target isnt attacking you) while you're at it.

1.0 had tons of good stuff.

Oh yes, 1.0 had a lot of really awesome ideas that were scrapped for some reason... If I had it my way the TP system would be more like 1.23's, though. Currently the game is just too spammy to promote truly strategic play, and since we constantly use our skills without pause, they had to balance it such that no single combo deals meaningful damage.

Unfortunately unless a lot of people start coming together, many of those concepts from 1.x won't come back to the surface... I am hopeful though that someday this game will evolve to become more like the original vision at 1.0's launch while actually being as playable as the game is now, and finding a balance.

I'm starting to wonder if the reason why a lot of those old abilities and weaponskills have just been put aside for later inclusion following level cap increases? Although it seems a bit odd that they would replace older abilities and weaponskills with new ones at a lower level - as it is a lot of abilities that were gained at much higher levels in 1.0 have had their level requirements slashed - I mean, look at Rage of Halone.

First this IS in the wrong section of the forums.
Also, for Enkidoh: Gotta remember the big reason they removed most of those skills is to make the game less of an AoE fest

Ah, that makes sense, thinking about it now. I saw the words "feedback" and "suggestions" while kinda ignoring the whole "website" part. I saw similar threads here and went with it. Should this be in the tank role area? When I looked there it seemed like it was more about strategies than making suggestions about changes... if you know where, I'd love to hear where no fun posting in the wrong place.

On your other note to Enkidoh, I would argue that this game in it's current iteration is still very much an AoE fest even if we have fewer abilities to use for it. Instead of building up and slowly popping an AoE, we just spam the one or two we have constantly (when the situation calls for it), regardless of job. Now that you mention it, I think it'd actually be better now to have actual AoE combos, since hate generation is so much simpler than back in 1.x.
