Please, Please address this. (from a lancer's perspective)

From what i have seen from the game up to level 35, (desperately hoping this changes in higher end dungeons) lancers and dragoons are not allowed to roll on heavy armor... which for questing and dungeon reasons, we obviously prefer it anyway. i regularly see in each and every dungeon that there are 2 heavy armor sets, the ethereal and unique pieces, the unique (green pieces) for the most part all seem to specify all proper tank classes, but the ethereal pieces, which are usually just a little below the quality of the uniques also allow for lancers and dragoons to roll on Wear✔ them. i don't know about the rest of the lancers and dragoons out there, but i've come to the understanding that dexterity does literally nothing for us in terms of dps anyway, so why not take the parry from the heavy armor that's supposed to be available from us and the extra free armor value... and put it towards our survivability...

i like a bit of a challenge, but some things in this game make me just shake my head. it's about as "new user friendly" as a slap-chop with blades on the part you're supposed to slap sometimes... and not once have i gotten a remotely helpful, intelligible or even usable response from SQ-E Customer service/tech support on any matter, if you try to get a hold of them via phone online, you will get nothing but redirections to the e-mail response team and if you go to get help from the e-mail response team, all you get is a pre-made message about something that has nothing to do with what you asked about in the first place. if i've gotten as far as to send off an email in the hopes of getting a human response, you repeating the results of the "related topics" that have nothing to do with what i asked will not solve the bloody problem.

also what kind of armor you mean?can you tell us armor name?

afaik,before you got af armor at lvl 45 and 50, scale armor series is the best defence for dragoon which start at lvl 22 and you can get it from quest

i'm referring to the level 20-35 dungeon drop sets where if you look at the items, you see that a dragoon/lancer/gladiator/paladin/marauder/warrior piece, but you can only roll on it if you're a gld/pld/mrd/war and if you're a lancer/drg you're stuck with the squishy medium armor that you as a heavy melee dps, have to compete with the ranger/bard/monk/pug/ for low-armor gear with a stat that doesn't even benefit you in any way/shape or form.

on an unrelated note i miss the ability to /hug /sigh /lol and /facepalm there's so many rp elements in this game and i can't even hug people or loop a dance.

This repeats itself later with jewelry and many other things. As nice as it is to have the heaviest armor available, you won't get priority ever on that kind of gear. The armor you wear just further diverges from tanky armor as you go up in level. You'll get to need things with more defense than a mnk gets, but neither set is going to keep a dps safe. The example that comes to mind to show how it continues is the DPS rings in coil. Both great, both useful for a Drg as they build up... Drg can only need one, Mnk can only need the other one. Beyond that they have to greed the same as everyone else.

you can use greed if you want
but as reminder the stat to maximize potential of each class is different
if you get lancer/dragoon but with vit/int stat, your lancer will be very weak.let tanker tank and you focus dps (str,skill speed,critical,determination)
well maybe you still low level and never bother to know it

I'm currently leveling a dragoon, I'm level 46 and have hq level 46 gear on, but how is darklight gear worse than what i have equipped?

The defense is a little lower because you're wearing tanking gear that a DRG can use just for novelty's sake. The stats that increase your dps should be considerably higher on the darklight gear.
