Tier IV Materia

What was the logic of giving away tier IV materia from the new story quests? It completely tanked the market.

I made good money on an occasional tier IV proc from IL 55. I even converted a 250k ring I bought (rose gold ring) and got a materia worth 450k...

It won't last. Markets flooded now because there's a massive influx. But the quests are non-repeatable. The ones at market now will sell, they'll get used, and prices will go up again.

Remember: They also boosted conversion rate to IV from i55+ gear, so the market is definitely plummeting even after the initial storyline rush.

1. you can level a new character to 50, make 300k from gold coins and quest rewards, then get materia worth another 500k+ and can do it in 7 days. Then use said new character to bypass loot lockouts for other jobs.

Square loves to crash markets with new story content. I have plenty of Mega-Strength Potions +1 on backlog because SE decided it'd be a good idea to just hand them out and flood the market with NQs. There were what, three quests with Mega-Stat potions as a reward? It's ridiculous... At least you could buy up cheap Materia and hope to resell it for profit in the future, the consumables market just gets screwed over constantly with very little you can do about it. Buying up NQs would be stupid, considering NQs are completely worthless from a crafters perspective... But content just keeps churning out free NQ consumables again and again, creating a massive gulf between the cost of NQs and HQs...

I really hope we don't get more of this in the future; learn from this now SE. It's hard enough to enjoy the market in this game when you're combating RMT first and catering to your subscribers second... I don't need you flipping me off with every new piece of story content too...

Isn't crafting ilevel 55 gear and spirit bound it faster?

I see it like every mats. Everyone can go out and farm the mats himself, but there are still enough people who buy it in the market board because it is faster.
