RDM is going to be different, no doubt. Might be better, might be worse, but it's going to be different than what we're used to. It will have to be, to fit into the game.

People talking about RDM always makes me wonder if they're talking about the classic RDM or the FF XI one.
Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.
Come on SE, I want to shank people with my knives!!I guess we'll have to wait several months (or even 1 year) before we see the thief job in FFXIV.
Rouge as a class, THF and DNC as jobs, are all easily Ul'dahn (Maybe put THF in Limsa to spread them out). NIN might need to wait till Radz-at-Han given the eastern influence.
Id love a rogue type class...that's all Ive ever played in most games that offer it...duel wielding swords or daggers = fun for me (maybe some invisibility to....giggle)
It should probably be easier to implemend than a rdm or musketeers.
Gatherers already have stealth mode. There are plenty poison/blind type attacks or other status effect. I can see a thf being a dps type.
Been wanting Musketeer since 1.0 and happy to see that will be next.
As a side note. It always bugs me how MMOs call invisibility stealth, just because its on a rogue type class. Stealth is sneaking through the shadows, the undergrowth etc. Invisible, is well, invisible:P
But instead of bring back this, bring back that. I'd really love for SE to make brand new classes/jobs. Or at least a mix of some some old classes and some totally new classes.
Maybe they introduce a Red Mage, or a Thief and that it is totally different to what you are used to or expecting. How many would see that "as a bad thing" ? If SE are wanting to take the franchise in a different direction then they should dig into their box of originiality for new classes. Seeing as one of the changes they made already is to the Final Fantasy Logo showing that a new direction is something they want.
But also the are adding iconic stuff too, aka golden saucer. Which would ease people into new things more so than pure new XD
TL;DR Lets have totally new and original classes/jobs come in the future. Not just rehashed from previous FF games.

Thief I must have.. DO IT NAO!
Yoshida has said he wants to add a rogue/scout-type class to the game. Both have been interpreted as dagger classes in other games. Also keep in mind his background with DAoC, which had stealthy/rogueish classes in the form of scouts and infiltrators.
This is a loaded question. Some people will happily accept anything thrown at them by SE. Then you have others who won't. Aside from either camp you have me, who looks at this game as a way to correct the mistakes of the past and give people what they wanted for serveral years and never got. FFXI treated THF horribly, and I would hope ARR's version of it to be more of a quick rogue rather than a "steal everything and serve little purpose aside from that" job.How many would see that "as a bad thing"?
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
