    Treasure Hunt

I'm not sure where else to put this, but there really needs to be a challenging Treasure Map. Something where mobs like a primal, behemoth, odin, or even a new strong mob is used, depending on the zone. It's a way to give end game players the ability to do something challenging, as an 8man group.

Think Notorious Monsters from ffxi, only with it's own little twist. In addition the rewards could be high end gear/myth (i85 gear), simply making the mobs extremely hard, and if it's a wipe, the map is lost.

I'd actually prefer treasure-hunts with no battle-component whatsoever. Make it a multi-tiered treasure hunt, put in puzzles and mini-games; just do something that helps separate this from the rest of the game and make it feel more unique. :-(

Annnnddd.... Because stupid post limit is stupid...

How wouldn't it be a treasure hunt?
For the first case, you'd find clues that'd direct you to more clues that'd lead you to more clues, etc. etc. (or items that you need to unlock the ultimate treasure).
For the second, you'd still have to search for the treasure and dig it up, you'd just have to play a minigame to disarm a bomb, pick a lock, or activate a secret switch into an enclosed area or something before you could claim it.

Then it couldn't be a treasure hunt, it'd be more of a puzzle. But still they need something to make it more difficult. We had the "rarest" one today, 8 man raid, popped it.. and felt like i could solo it.

Please SE. make it more challenging somehow!

IMO ... the lowest level treasure maps should be the ONLY ones you can get via gathering.

Then when you go do the hunt, you should find a significantly smaller stash of stuff, but one that includes the next level of map. And each one you do contains the next level of map, until you reach the 8 man map, which has the best rewards and the most challenge (and, obviously, no new map).

Aren't treasure maps usually puzzles to begin with? At least the swashbuckling types were...

I absolutely love Dark Saviour's idea, something new and fresh that doesn't involve the same ole' fighting monsters over and over.

I have to agree, make treasure hunting ... well ... treasure hunting. The idea of deciphering clues, not using the decipher ability, but actually figuring things out. Chasing down the spot, digging up the treasure and potentially (getting super pissed at RNG) finding a clue (map) that would lead you to a yet greater treasure.

Everything doesn't need to be combat, and it certainly doesn't need to be tied into a fate (this is more about seasonal events though)

Way back, in the long ago, it was the intention to have content that crafters and gatherers could occupy themselves with. This sounds like it would fill that role very nicely; but, sadly, they have moved on to the kill kill KiLl KILL Killlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll -- the horror . . . method of doing everything. I still like to just go fish somewhere nice and quiet, and I could really get behind treasure hunting that was about hunting treasure instead of hunting enemies.

Yup, treasure hunting needs more solving and less hacking.
