    Revised Cure III Mechanic Idea!

I had this idea for a new mechanic to Cure III. I know it was just revised and all but this isn't so much a fix as it is how the spell works. Firstly; keep it all the same ie. cost, radius, range and cast time. However, instead of making it a targeting heal make it into a "true" radial heal. This idea came to me after doing a quest where you have to throw bombs on specified locations. After clicking the item you would get the circular radial display on the ground that would also display the range. What if you incorporated that into the spell?

Stage 1: Player clicks Cure III; Stage 2: the cast time begins to count down Stage 3: the player just clicks on the target location where they want the radial heal to take affect! The cast time holds until they click the spot to heal. Furthermore, it can be canceled out just like any other spell. By doing this we would be able to heal people without directly targeting them. This would prevent us from relying completely on the stacking tactic and give this spell more variety as well a new mechanic to play around with. The best part is since it's going to be the same exact spell it won't change anything balance wise either.

These types of spells can work, but as WoW has shown with the Lightwell spell (big obvious clickable animation) nobody ends up clicking it and it quickly becomes useless.

It wouldn't be a click-able well or a sacred ground; it would be the same spell with the same effects but you wouldn't have to single target and instead just cast it in the position that you want. It's merely a way to take out the targeting function of the spell and replace it with a free placement mechanic. Not so much an area where they can run into to recieve healing. I need to learn to word my ideas better so people don't get confused ...

I really like how cure 3 works now
so sry but i am fully against your idea and would be very sad ;p if it came like that

but it is a really nice idea and i like to see how the most healers here are really thinking about the skills
so maybe that idea is nothing for me, but other people would enjoy it

Thanks for the feedback ^-^! It was just a thought on a different kind of mechanic, but I can see why we should just stick to the current Cure III style.

10 yard cure 3 would be nice. So it could reach melee that are doing positional attacks to the side of the boss...

Cure 3 punishes melee a bit atm. Ranged can just stay behind the boss all the fight. Melee have to move from the left/right side of the boss into the group. So they lose dps or miss healing. The range is still way to short to heal both tank and melee .

A friendly green AoE marker to give people a warning that we are casting Cure 3 would be good.

10y would be nice. I agree. My idea was just a way of taking away the targeting aspect of the spell and allowing us to pick where we want the center of the radius to be rather than having the target be the radius. More than once I have used Cure III and people were in the right position, but move right before my timer goes off... it gets annoying sometimes. A simple 10y would be fair and /welcome if nothing else.

that would be interesting, actually. Would give it a different niche as well, especially with your idea of casting first then moving the circle. it has pros and cons. Would be able to cast it and have it hit right as damage hits, but if you moved, you'd lose your cast time and waste 3 seconds.

Oh, I was confused by your first post I guess then. Yea I would much prefer a place-able AoE. Right now when we have to AoE cure we just move ourself into position. I find it a little clunky to select someone when you want AoE heals, and you don't know if they'll move around and make the spell go out of range. I think its a good idea. That being said, the slight range increase on Cure III has made it actually pretty useful - especially in Titan extreme.
