I love Duty Commendations. Thank you for them.

Last night I PuG for WP and I had a tank that SR'd faster than anything, and actually did some things that I didnt see other SR Tanks do before.

Other times I've been having trouble picking who I should give commendations to. I sometimes feel bad to give it to just one person when there were others that deserved it as well. Wish we could give out more.

I try to give mine to the most friendly and/or helpful person in the run. If no one stood out, I default to the healer (on my PLD) if no one died to trash and they threw in some DPS during downtime, or to the tank (on my BRD/DRG) as long as they kept aggro, marked, and used cooldowns. It's hard for me to tell if DPS did a good job unless they're a bard or dragoon, as I don't know too much about other DPS rotations.

I'm a bit sad we can't give commendations when entering DF with others. I did Haukke HM for the first time this morning and it was... rough, haha. Our healer was very patient and explained lots of the mechanics, we won with ~10 minutes to spare and I felt so bad I couldn't commend him 'cause I came in with two friends.

Personaly since it started I have analyzed the encounters more to see who mess up the least. And with that I do not mean the results of the mess up but the amount of them. To in case all are equally nice giving it to the one that did their job the best.

Usually I end up giving it to the healer or the other DPS. It is very rare for me to give it to tanks. Idk why, but after an encounter it usually feels like the DPS and Healer did more smart choices during the encounter to make it easier.

the only thing I keep thinking is that maybe I shouldn't give any commendations since so many people seem to be spamming these right now to get their commendations fast. but then again they may be in there legitmately through the daily duty roulette (or REALLY because they use the duty roulette to help out. I guess I just have to listen to my guts on this one)

Unfortunately, damage-dealers get the shaft when it comes to commendations. Everyone wants to reward the tanks and healers.

Seriously, reward your DPS once in a while. I feel bad for them. I heal all the time and get commendations for it, and so does your tank with his insta-queue.

This :/ Anytime I go as a DD, I get 0 commendations, switched to whm, got a bunch...for standing there hitting cure, because you know, that takes a lot of effort and deserves all the commendations lol I did get 2 commendations last night on blm, it was exciting

I kind of wish that we could still give commendations while in a pt just not to the people in it. Like if 2 people enter DF and end up with 2 others who did that, no one is getting commendations, but if they had it where you could, then I could still give them to those other 2

There is no invalid reason to commend anyone.

I was surprised to get commendations so often. I use duty roulette to level up my MRD and my LNC (the way I was doing before patch already), and only ran a couple of dungeons where I didn't get any commendations. Be it as tank or DPS. Even when I found others more deserving than me (I'm pretty average).
One evening of roulette got me 16 commendations. So yeah, playing DPS didn't seem to hamper my getting commendations.


As far as my votes go, I give it to anyone that stand out. Though when playing DPS, it's easier to notice the other DPS' performance than when tanking, to be honest.

So a tank that performs remarquably keeping aggro better than what I'm used to on this run, or when I see the other DPS dealing better damage than me while not pulling aggro or other mistakes, when healer keeps up with a fast pace or with tough situations, these kind of things I have commended.

Attitude plays a big part too.
I'll never commend someone who's being an ass, however good he may be. Nor do I commend good players with poor teamplay.
On the other hand, I've commended a new player who was running his first dungeon and performed relatively well for a total beguinner, was open and sociable, let us know he was a newb from the start, and was receptive to advice and making good use of them. Even if he wasn't the best player of the team.

As a damage dealer after only a small handful of runs, over two days, I have 7. All because I'm friendly, I encourage the other members, explain strats to newcomers, and congratulate the group when we win.
I never hand out commendations based on class. Simply how they acted.
I'll give an inexperienced player who did poorly, a commendation if they tried hard, accept help, and learn.

Just being good at the game, isn't worth it to me. Its how you act regardless of skill.

my one rule of thumb thus far is: If you ask for a commendation, you don't get one from me. ever.

had several low-level dungeon runs where level-synced players beg for commendations at the end of the dungeon. I always pick someone else.

You're one of those people who thinks healing is supah easy, aren't you?

On topic: I had someone ask to trade commendations at the end of a run today. >.> I felt very uncomfortable with this idea.
