    the zombies

So I recently did the Gentleman quest and really with that and another quest the zombies in this game act very differently then most games.

They seem to posses some intelligence and a remain of humanity but do hunger for brains and such but still posses the logic of reasoning and knowledge of weapons and even speak. This seems very refreshing to me seeing how some of what XIV decided to trow to the side and make some nice different zombies yes manly for comedy but I enjoy that they are not just depressing beings.

A zombie gentleman is, rather than does....eat brains.

Most of this game is pretty goofy, and the interactable zombie characters are just that. Like Hab wishing to see his sabotender freinds, and the zombie from the Halloween event. There are a lot of creatures that you can actually communicate with even in the other final fantasies.

Yes, it definitely shows an alternative view, that even creatures considered 'monstrous' or 'fiends' may actually not be all that they're made out to be. Incidentally unusually for a modern FF game, there is no explanation lore-wise as far as I can tell about exactly how zombies are reanimated in FFXIV - in FFXI for instance undead were stated as being reanimated by residual crystal energy leaking from the ancient Zilartian Crystal Line, so I'm wondering if something similar revives the deceased here in FFXIV as well (ala, aether). But I think I'm clutching at straws here.

This is so Japanese... (i love it as long as it's a variable)

Humanizing zombies doesnt really make me less likely to <insert fatality here> and send them back to Hell/ Hades, lol!

    They can all burn!

    Time for some 1.0 Lore!
In Ul'dahn lore it is believed that those whose are left unburied outside the city walls will rise again as undead corpses. This was evident mainly by the skeletal wight roaming the wastes and a few zombies from levequests, although the wights seem to be devoid of thought.

I bet Dalamud's interference with the land's Aether has made this more powerful. Also there's the fact that the ruins of Sil'dih were partially uncovered, which was a City-state that fell from Necromancy gone bad and was sealed up by Ul'dah with a Zombie horde inside.

But no explanation as to why certain ones are more intelligent, nice touch though.

If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die... I must simply laugh

You know, it would be very interesting to see an undead hoard with a massive case of cabin fever, don't you think?
