I NEVER have a problem with latency honestly.. Titan or otherwise and has even gotten better since 2.1.. Did Ultima and titan last night no problem. Other than tank purge and the knock backs Ultima didnt touch me once last night![]()

Just ran with 2 Japanese players in the group. They'd get hit by aoe pretty often even though they tried to run out hmm...
Exactly what latency am I describing? Please do tell me.Don't want to sound like a douchebag, but the latency you get in that that GIF in your signature is terrible enough that I doubt it's all on SE's end. I'm using a regular enough internet connection for my area, nothing special, on PS3, using wireless.
Ive been hit by stuff like that, but i'd have to be leaving the active area within miliseconds of it ending to actually be hit.
It's really easy to blame a company like this, especially when you can cry "conspiracy" anytime you like. But for gods sake, the latency you're describing has got to be a serious minority.
On the other end, you do admit to suffering from delay.
And I don't accuse SE of conspiracy, I accuse them of double speak, and taking their customers for fools (they wouldn't be the frsts).
Absolutely. Just like I described the way I dodge Demon Wall's AoE by moving before it happens (and entering an active AoE without getting hit, how very logical), you can beat many fights by learning them by heart in advance and playing the choregraphy before your screen shows you the moves. The latency issue is still there but as before the fights are still doable as long as you memorize the rotation. I'm in Australia as well and I turn on Pingzapper for Titan, just in case, sometimes I still get hit by shit when I'm obviously out of it because of the latency but more often than not there are no problems at all. Just memorize his rotation and move a little early to reduce the chance of getting hit by something.
Which doesn't mean it is normal, nor acceptable.
This problem isn't just about dodging AoEs. It affects the general gameplay experience. I'm sorry for finding it subpar, and then getting angry when Yoshida says in this intervew it's basically the user's fault, and users need a better setup. I don't have a weak setup (as I've just described earlier, including Internet connexion, check my previous post), I consider I've been tricked by incomplete game requirements if this setup isn't supposed to be enough to play normally.

Well this pretty much describes my opinion on this issue as well.Absolutely. I noticed the latency issue has improved a little bit since the last patch, however ... this core system of server side actions is deeply flawed, and one of the few things that I believe could haunt this game and impede its success into the future.
It is an extremely frustrating mechanic to be hit by things that you appear to be moved out of. Also, in taunting bosses as a tank, even if you switch aggro, you can notice the enemies take a while to focus you.
Honestly, they need to switch to client side monitoring, after playing other MMO's that have that system, its such a huge step backwards. Even if they need to rewrite the base game code, they need to do it or this game success will be haunted in the future.
It's not a serious minority. It might be a minority, but 49% can still be considered a minority, so keep that in mind. I play on ps3 in SoCal using Time Warner on the Migardsomr server. TW has a latency issue during peak hours (which I believe is confirmed) that creates a huge problem. Even without it though, there is still early morning lag.
During one titan battle, our WHM would call out plumes. He said he called them out when they first appeared on the screen for him. This was always 1-1.5 second(s) before I even saw them. You can also claim to choreograph the whole thing(I will actually probably try to figure out how to orchestrate that against the stupid bombs, since they also generate a lag-related issue), but that is a pretty poor resolution for the problem. Maybe when I get a little higher equipment (not my relic though, which is being held captive by lag), I might be able to survive and outrun the lag. I'll keep trying, but not everyone will and SE will have to come to terms with that at some point or it will kill the game/reputation of the company.
Also, I'm 99% certain that you cannot use any tunneling systems in conjunction with ps3/4.
Any combat system that requires you to ignore common sense and pre-allocate time to make up for its shortcomings is BROKEN. Period. It's bad enough that we have to deal with SE's atrociously bad netcode; it's even worse when people try to white knight and give them a free pass on it.
This issue needs to be pounded until SE pulls their head out of their collective rears and does something about it.
Disclaimer: I have a 60-100ms ping and I still this to be a problem at times.
This is what frustrates me the most. Husband and I use pingzapper, but would love to be on the ps3 (sometimes I have to be). And we can't run pingzapper through that. I get tired of hearing "it's your hardware." If that were true, pingzapper wouldn't fix the issue, and there's no way to fix a ps3's hardware.
I don't also want to hear "it's not SE's fault!" They are the ones that put all the data centers in one spot that makes people far away have to have tons of hops to get there. That just severely increases the changes of going to a bad hop in the first place.
Optimal connection means living inside the border of the country the server is. You can have a 100mbs connection but get 500ms while someone with a 10mbs connection gets 20ms simply because the server is in his country.I am curious about what he considers "optimal connexion".
I live in a big city, in a country that's amongts the world's most developped as far as high speed Internet goes (far more than the USA, and even more than Canada, apparently), and although I don't have optic fiber, I have standart high speed Internet for here. I have never encountered such a problem in over 10 years of playing MMOs.
Anything below 300ms is very good ping. Anyone who argues otherwise has probably never played an MMO outside his country border before.
Sadly a majority of MMOs do that, if you play English servers which are mostly located in NA. The sad fact is if you don't live in NA, it's time to get a tunneling service.

Hello;
I just want to share my experience because the delay I have in the game used to make me take a break.
I'm back for the 2.1, and I noticed that I don't lag one bit in deserted areas.
I mean, I was doing some Main Story quests in "Cape Westwind" and not a lot of people comes here really; then I noticed that everything was instant. My mount came to me really quick, the enemy health-bar was decreasing at the exact same time my attacks connects etc. that was amazing o.o
But then, I went back to the Ceruleum Processing Plant and the delay was back; I can summon my mount and walk an entire day until it appears under me, I can barely feel my damages on enemies etc..
So I'm only lagging when a lot of people are playing near me (or in dungeon).
I really enjoy playing FFXIV, but hoping nobody is in my area so I can have a good ping...
[Sorry for my english!]
