WoW has much more complex mechanics and interesting fights yet I don't bother memorizing every single thing it does. I go with the flow... just need to know the phases.
Titan HM? Have to memorize his whole rotation to dodge AoE because the game is so sluggish. Seriously, this is beyond pathetic. A sensible director would plan his game around what's possible for most players. Not our mister Yoshida.
He could at least learn what WoW does to it's AoE mechanics, since no one seems to complain there. But no... if you're not dropping dead the instant it happens, it's not cool enough.
You seem awfully fond of WoW, why are you playing FFXIV?
What it boils down to is that unlike most AAA mmos they don't provide multiple data centers so many people have quite a long distance between their computer and the servers. This gives many heavy latency. Many of those many have no idea why this is happening, will have no idea how to nor be willing to do anything to fix the problem. All they know is that it doesn't happen with any other MMO except ffxiv and many of those many will simply unsub and tell their friends that ffxiv is a shitty game.
That's reality.
I chose to get battleping and it fixed my problem but do I think I should have to? No. Do I think they should have added more data centers and had better coding? Absolutely. Once again sqenix half assed their way through this.

As far as I am aware they addressed the issue already. Prior to 2.1 update, i had issues dodging aoe in titan and other primals sometimes, even in dungeons. Now, none at all. I do however believe this got better due to now having an actual EU based server location.
Is it just me? Or the latency this day is really annoying?

The latency issue is still there but as before the fights are still doable as long as you memorize the rotation. I'm in Australia as well and I turn on Pingzapper for Titan, just in case, sometimes I still get hit by shit when I'm obviously out of it because of the latency but more often than not there are no problems at all. Just memorize his rotation and move a little early to reduce the chance of getting hit by something.
Exactly what latency am I describing? Please do tell me.Don't want to sound like a douchebag, but the latency you get in that that GIF in your signature is terrible enough that I doubt it's all on SE's end. I'm using a regular enough internet connection for my area, nothing special, on PS3, using wireless.
Ive been hit by stuff like that, but i'd have to be leaving the active area within miliseconds of it ending to actually be hit.
It's really easy to blame a company like this, especially when you can cry "conspiracy" anytime you like. But for gods sake, the latency you're describing has got to be a serious minority.
On the other end, you do admit to suffering from delay.
And I don't accuse SE of conspiracy, I accuse them of double speak, and taking their customers for fools (they wouldn't be the frsts).
Absolutely. Just like I described the way I dodge Demon Wall's AoE by moving before it happens (and entering an active AoE without getting hit, how very logical), you can beat many fights by learning them by heart in advance and playing the choregraphy before your screen shows you the moves. The latency issue is still there but as before the fights are still doable as long as you memorize the rotation. Which doesn't mean it is normal, nor acceptable.
This problem isn't just about dodging AoEs. It affects the general gameplay experience. I'm sorry for finding it subpar, and then getting angry when Yoshida says in this intervew it's basically the user's fault, and users need a better setup. I don't have a weak setup (as I've just described earlier, including Internet connexion, check my previous post), I consider I've been tricked by incomplete game requirements if this setup isn't supposed to be enough to play normally.

Well this pretty much describes my opinion on this issue as well.Absolutely. I admit to suffering from delay, but not nearly enough to warrant a complaint, and certainly not anything i haven't experienced in a lifetime of MMOs, Action MMOs, Fighting Games and MOBAS.
It's not doublespeak. The game is programmed a certain type of way, and this issue is a consequence of that. Were it programmed a different type of way then it would change something else. You can compare this game's AoE issues to other games that play similarly, but it'd be moot because combat isn't the only source of server stress in an MMO, which instantly renders your observation completely useless. Most importantly, I don't even think you could point out other MMOs, because every MMO i've played has this issue in one way or another.
Either you do the checks client-side and risk tons of exploitable holes and desync, or you do it server-side where the server's calculations may make some real-time errors but are nonetheless absolute by its own rights. Most games do these sorts of things server-side now, and i recall the last game i played that was action-oriented (TERA) occasionally had me hit by things i know i visually dodged in realtime.
Either you rage about it in the moment, or you try to adjust. But when Yoshida says "Just get better internet", that's really all he can logically say because that's ultimately the only thing that's going to help you...

I believe you're right in saying that's the only thing he can say. Which I call double speak. He is clearly playing dumb to avoid admiting there *is* a problem. He cannot say anything else because they won't/can't fix it, and therefore, cannot admitting that it exists only to say "we won't do anything about it".I admit to suffering from delay, but not nearly enough to warrant a complaint, and certainly not anything i haven't experienced in a lifetime of MMOs, Action MMOs, Fighting Games and MOBAS.

If I am wrong, if he is serious, then this whole game is a scam. Because it wasn't written in the game requirement that you needed optic fiber and/or to live in Japan to be able to play this game normally. They knowingly sold a game they knew wouldn't work properly to people living halfway across the globe from their server.
The fact that some people say they are playing normally while having less than optimal conditions leads me to believe that I am right, and the speech in the interview is BS.
