    SMN advice please

I know the forums have a few smn is op threads but I'd still like some advice :P
2 guys in my fc have been inviting me to do pvp a lot lately. We go pld, dual smn. I'd guess we win about 50-65% of the time. It all depends on if the df healer knows what they're doing. Some of my problems are the following.

No matter what were fighting, doesn't matter that we have a 2nd smn, I feel as if I'm the prime target lol I have 2 people chasing me at all times. When I get stun locked it really sucks >< I have a hard time avoiding targets and I get interrupted all the time. I purchased the pvp ability the limits interruption but that doesn't stop stun so I don't get much use out of it. When I'm being chased I pop sprint+miasma 2 and run like a little girl.

It won't let me type more than 1000 characters so I need to make several posts ><

Which pet are you using? I'm switching between ifrit and garuda and can't decide who I like more. Ifrit hits pretty hard and he can stun but he has to be in melee range. Garuda is ranged so she doesn't have to chase people unless they run around something that blocks line of sight. I don't even bother with contagion because purify can remove all my dots.

I've been having fun with tri-disaster but unless a spell is instant I don't get to cast it often. Sometimes I use swiftcast to stop the healer just long enough for our pally to stunlock them but most of the time I've been using swiftcast+miasma to dmg+slow+reduce healing. Is there something I should be saving swiftcast for? I find insta-rez to be a waste of mp if the other group is paying attention.

My normal dmg routine is bio, swiftcast+miasma, bio2(if allowed), fester, miasma2 when chasing or ruin 2 cause it's instant, the occasional bane when everyone is grouped together. Anything else I could be doing?

I'm an alchemist but honestly I can't tell if ward potions are worth it. They have the same problem as stat potions. 15 duration, long recast. Is it worth making any?

Do you bother with shadowflare? Sometimes when the gates open I'll drop one just to try to direct the other team away from an area. Most people don't want to run threw that thing.

Ring around the rosie aside. I'm having trouble getting miasma+bio2 off when the healer makes a 180 degree turn and runs threw me canceling my spell. Anything I can do about that?

This 1000 total chars is a load of bull -.-

Who do you sick your pet on? I go for the healer to help kill them or the blm to annoy/interrupt them.

I don't get many chances to stand still long enough to use anything that isn't instant. I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Any thoughts?

You can edit your original post after making it to exceed the 1k character limit.

    Summoner Bread & Butters:

    Pet: Ifrit + Sic

While running to target, pop Rouse ~ Spur ~ Enkindle (enkindle will activate when ifrit reaches the target), and raging strikes

Basic Opening Rotation: Swiftcast + Miasma --> Bio ~ Energy Drain --> Fester ~ Ruin II --> Energy Drain --> Miasma II *Aetherflow recharge* -->

    - Time [Wither] to cancel a swiftcast buff or a summoner's aetherflow stacks / protect / etc
    - Use [Aetheric Burst] as extra DPS somewhere in your rotation
    - After the opening rotation, depending on what's going on, you may want to save the next swiftcast for in case the healer dies (so you can swiftcast + res). In an ideal situation this won't happen, but pay attention to what's going on.

Putting on Ifrit on Sic sounds bad but it's usually better because whoever you're chasing will usually use the pillars & walls to line of sight you, and often you'll be separated by those objects from your pet. The way the game works you can't manually do any pet abilities, even rouse + spur, if your pet is out of your line of sight.

yeah being a SMN means that you will most likely be targeted first. Unless the rival group is trying to rush the healer. For my pet I use titan, just because he's harder to kill and can chase around someone longer. Plus he's got stun like ifrit. I don't play lvl 50 because I don't have morale gear so can't help ya there. here is some advice. Aetherflow before the match starts. If you do it soon enough it will recharge before the match begins. I just Ruin 2 and energy drain my victim to death. energy drain will keep you alive longer and replenish your mp. both ruin 2 and energy drain are instant so chase them down to their death haha. and I throw a Aetheric burst in there. but if everyone rushes you and your healer runs away then your pretty much screwed lol
