Commend suck-ups?

Bla, bla, bla... the fact is that the commendations were made for the people to play a class like Tank or Healer. Remember the DPS complaining about the waiting time in DF because of the lack of thoses classes?
Tanks and healers will get commendations in a 80% of the times... FACT !

I heal. I don't like giving commendations to tanks unless they're exceptional. I commend tanks <50%, and sometimes commnend no one.

In dungeons, I want trash marked (unless it's extremely obvious), a strategy communicated on trash (sleep? aoe? single target???), and a quick refresher on bosses. I don't think it's fair that all this falls to the tank, but IMO the tank shouldn't be pulling before there's some communication about HOW the pull is supposed to go.

DPS or healer can do most of those things, and if they do, they get my commendation. It's also usually pretty easy to rule out a DPS (the one with less threat/damage, on the wrong target, not clicking the lever, afk, in the red circles).


tbh I've always said hello, and always type out really basic boss strategies "go in the orange square when you get the debuff, and wasps must die fast." I don't mark, I don't ask about CC, or AoE ~ I just do what seems to be working or I feel like doing. If I really wanted commendations, I'd do more of those extras, AND runs might go faster or smoother. So when someone comes in, clearly kissing up by doing everything they can, I'm happy to give them my commendation.

I've had people all for commendations and if I'm in a party tell them they certainly deserve it but that I'm partied. It's hasn't been an issue. Most DF groups I ran with prepatch I actually came to like. Especially if we started out wiping several times. You'd be amazed at how open to advice they become if you are polite about it. People who cause a wipe are generally braced for getting blasted and appreciate when the party is cool and willing to move on. I think you're overthinking it, op.

I get DPS accomodations for being willing to explain the mechanics of each new fight. I say hello at the beginning of every run but I've done that since Beta 3.

I think it's hysterical when people try to out 'nice' the other people for commendations. Had a group of people tripping over themselves in Prae today trying to win them votes lol. Pretty entertaining if you ask me.

I've noticed this a lot haha, never gets boring.

as a healer I’ve gotten quite a few commendations mostly when I dps while healing or was able to heal in a tough spot I don’t ask for them I just do what I do.

Now on the flip side I’ve given commendations to tanks and to dps just depends on the run however I don’t give them to people who ask for them that’s not what they are for.

Ive had some runs where it's felt like i was pugging with an airline stewardess with that fake niceness. I used to give commendations to whoever but I guess there's no obligation to do it at all. Unless some one REALLY stands out I don't bother anymore. Being a tank and tanking or healer and healing really isnt enough unless you prevent a near wipe.

Honestly, if people are going out of their way to be nice and helpful in parties, then not only is this system doing exactly what it's supposed to do, the system doing exactly what a lot of people said it wouldn't.

I never needed motivation to be helpful, but if some people do then I'd say it's working.
