Yep. FFXIV's recruiting system is vastly superior to any other system I've seen, the real problem is that players are too lazy to use it and would rather just do the following:

"/linkshell Hey, who's on and wants to do leves at Broken Water?"
*no response*
"/shout Hey, who's on and wants to do leves at Broken Water?"

People, please don't blame SE for a "broken system", blame yourself and your community for being lazy. The recruitment feature is one of the few things they did right with this game.

what good is a system if the majority dislikes it?
and vastly superior to any toher system you've seen... well... it is a very one-sided system. Not superior at all imho.

Calling people lazy or the community lazy because a feature is majorly disliked won't help the game.
Why can't people see that only a MASS of new players can save this game.
You won't be able to appeal to everyone ofc. But appealing ONLY to the 5% of the people who actually bought the game... isnt the way to go.

As much as I loved old FFXI, I could not possibly dedicate the same amounts of time to a video game anymore. I would however like to see FFXIV take some of the newer FFXI (abyssea and beyond) ideas.
